Alright, finally got the chance to download the files and tweak my app_infos. Seems to be runnign the ordinary enhanced WUs just fine. Now to wait for some AP ones...

Just curious how long after I edit my app_info file to run the AP and optimized app for the regular WU with all the files to run both in the folder, it takes to get an AP WU? Also curious if my running the S5R4 Einstein WU as well would keep me from getting an AP WU. I've had it set to get them now for a few days, but just keep getting the regular ones.

Still waiting myself, so I'd like to know that too ;D

I'd guess it'll take until the next "outrage" or at least until your host requests a significant amount of work. If you "top off" your cache frequently, it may take an outage before your host requests enough work to have the scheduler send you such a long task.

At least, that's my impression. I could have interpreted how long it took to get my first AP WU incorrectly. ;-)

I got one, but it couldn't even start, do you know what could be the problem:
CreateProcess() failed

Technical News : Blips and Bursts (Aug 07 2008)

Towards the end of the afternoon yesterday we put in a new scheduler to fix a bug with "anonymous platforms" and the way they handle Astropulse workunits. This is working fine as far as I know, but at first there were some brief issues with uploads in general (human error when installing new scheduler).
...

Maybe now nobody with app_info.xml get AP-WUs?? ;-D

I will see if I will get AP-WUs.. I didn't changed the app_info.xml..
For now I don't want to crunch AP..

BTW. I like the old link color and style..

Usually means either you didn't download all the required executables, or you got a corrupted file when you downloaded them. See here.

Maybe if I just increase the work buffer. I'm wondering if that would do the same. It's set at .50. Is there a minimum setting that has to be in order to get them?

AFAIK even a request for one second or less of work could get an AP WU. The Scheduler feasibility checks are all about whether the host can do the work within deadline. Then after it assigns the first WU for a request it sees if the estimated time has fulfilled the request or more work needs to be assigned.

Thank you, my astropulse_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe was corrupted.

Got my first AP WU and should start working on it in a few hours. The projected time says it will take almost 38 hours. Doesn't really sound so bad if it holds to that since that would be a little more time than for a couple of the new Einstein S5R4's to run.

I would say double that as my T7200(2.0 GHz) is running toward 80 hours.

there were spaces after executable and main_program and the trailing backslash....

I've re-edited the app_info to remove the spaces and am now waiting for my next AP wu.....

That sounds more realistic to me from other comments I've seen on the boards.

If so, it looks like the AstroPulse application for the MAC is a bit slower than the stock Linux and Windows x86 applications are. My T7200 (2.0GHz) needed ca. 61 hours for its first AP wu (wuid 310110487).
That is exactly the same timerange i have seen during beta testing.

i got recently an astropulse workunit, working very well, but of course it will be rather long, even with multiprocessors computer.. anyway, this becomes very interesting . these works have to remain to all that it's first a work for science, with a lot of patience, and not just for lil points..

I have been working to move AP Issues and general comments into one of two threads.
This one and this AstroPulse errors - Reporting which is "Stickied" to the top of the thread.
Yes I know that means links posted to some messages are now incorrect.

It makes is easier for Josh and Eric to review one or two threads for issues.

I think part of that is you have more cache on yours that I do on mine, possibly a faster bus as well. I have 1 MB cache and a 800 MHz bus.

I have a 10 day cache and just stepped under the bus......LOL.

Thanks to Henri for postings on modifying app_info and to Josef for the hint to check the sched request file.
After waiting about 4 days -- I got my first AP unit - woohoo! Looks like 70+ hours for a desktop slogger like me. It certainly reduces the number of WUs in the task tab.

No problem, Dr.Argentum. :)

Is all working well?

Henri.
