I will check when I get home. It is my Q9450 rig, and the task is here. I just got it sometime today. I will post the messages in the BOINC log and check for any D/L of the AP files. It is almost 1600 CDT now, and I should have an answer before 2200 CDT. Here is the text from the message log: 8/4/2008 5:42:52 AM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work 8/4/2008 5:42:52 AM|SETI@home|Requesting 930063 seconds of new work 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 603] 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|[error] State file error: missing application astropulse 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|[error] Can't handle task ap_02jl08aa_B5_P0_00129_20080802_10838.wu in scheduler reply 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|[error] State file error: missing task ap_02jl08aa_B5_P0_00129_20080802_10838.wu 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|[error] Can't handle task ap_02jl08aa_B5_P0_00129_20080802_10838.wu_2 in scheduler reply 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|Deferring communication for 11 sec 8/4/2008 5:43:03 AM|SETI@home|Reason: requested by project Guess it is another ghost...it's not in my task file on my PC. ... It is another ghost; the "Can't handle task" stuff is saying the core client refuses to download the AP work which the Scheduler told it to get. The core client does not report it as an error to the Scheduler so the task is still assigned to the host as far as server-side is concerned. Once they fix the issue of assigning work to hosts which can't do it, it would be kind to wingmen to set NNT, complete and report all work, and do a detach and reattach to get those ghosts reissued to another host. so after messing up the install of the app.info.xml bit to upgrade my (Mac ppc) enhanced client, i trashed everything and started over. wow, i was still using version 5.x of BOINC and the blue B icon is gone! anyhow, now back up and running with what is the standard app (setiathome advanced 5.28). the Mac is crunching the seti units at 1-3.5 hours or so, as it has been doing for some time. now i see a new work unit is projected to take 8+ hours and has an august 24th reporting date. might that be an Astropulse work unit??? here it is: Task ID 942373607 Name 17jn08ae.4159.117659.3.8.148_1 Sedge if by chance an honest man like yourself were to make enemies, they would become my enemies. and then they will fear you. ![]() ![]() |

AP unit start the name ap_02jn08aa_......... and have 30 day deadline. What you have done has reset your Duration Correction Factor (DCF) to the default of 1.000000, it would probably be less than 0.50000 before that. DCF's as low as 0.25 are not uncommon using default application and much lower if using an optimised application. |

So...in attempting to allow one of my PCs to do AP WUs, I made a mistake (apologies to my wing[men/women/persons]) and did a partial Berkeley Flush. I copied the app_info.xml that was posted, but forgot that this PC was running Windows x64. Does anyone have a copy of the app_info.xml that would work with x64 and the Lunatis x64 SSSE3? Thanks... And now I noticed that the one I had previously installed it on (32-bit Windows) deleted the AP application when BOINC started up. Weird... Clk2HlpSetiCty:::PayIt4ward ![]() |

Huhh.. I got my first AP-WU.. but didn't changed the app_info.xml and so on.. ![]() Hope the server will be updated/fixed soon..! ![]() ![]() No Windows/x86_64 AP-app?? setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps Officially an Enhanced app for Win/64Bit is not available. So we must wait now also to the time the opt. team will make a Win/64Bit AP-app?? ![]() |

Looks like the total damage was 284 WUs before I hit the 'Suspend' button. Probably 1-2 seconds between "Ohsh" and suspend... Would love to get a mulligan on those... Well, not sure it'll help, but I'm running 64bit AK SSE3x and my app_info.xml looks like what follows. I have yet to kill any MultiBeam WU's, but I also haven't received any AstroPulse... Now might be a good time to split a few extra AstroPulse WU's, what with the MB splitters all sleeping. :-) OK. Seems like Sutaru may have raised the question I should have earlier. Can I run the 64 Bit Op App on my 64 bit O/S, yet still have the project send me work for the 32 Bit AstroPulse App? Seeing as the servers are probably taking a look at my platform and happily thinking "I don't have any AP work for 64 Bit clients" it no longer surprises me that I haven't yet seen a single AP WU. :-) * Sigh * So I'll second Sutaru's question. When can we hope for a Windows 64 bit AP client? :-) |

OK. Seems like Sutaru may have raised the question I should have earlier. The WUs are the same for all platforms, and when using an app_info.xml your platform is "anonymous", not any flavor of Windows, Linux, etc. The request to the Scheduler does include the file names, but you can see that the optimized apps don't adhere to the project naming convention with "...windows_intelx86" and similar, yet the optimized apps do get work. In effect, all that should matter is that you have an application for "astropulse". With the Scheduler doing wierd things for anonymous platform hosts, it's hard to say whether it's coincidence or part of that problem which has kept you from getting an AP WU. Joe |

OK. Seems like Sutaru may have raised the question I should have earlier. This is not an issue. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit with the AK-V8 SSSE3x and a modified app_info.xml. I have so far successfully crunched one AP WU. My rig happened to hit a sweet spot just before yesterday's outage and uploaded its whole backlog, at which point it downloaded nearly 300 WU's including about 12 AP WU's. F. ![]() |

Just wanted to report: I got an astropulse workunit with the modified app_info.xml :D Here it is: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=944142706 So it works! Now waiting for the start, there are lots of MB-WUs ahead... ;) Aloha, Uli |

OK. Seems like Sutaru may have raised the question I should have earlier. Fantastic. Thanks for the confirmation Fred. And I just looked and I finally did get an AP WU! Yippie!!! (I think ;-)) |

OK. Seems like Sutaru may have raised the question I should have earlier. Fred...could you post your app_info.xml? When I tried it on my XPx64 I did the Berkekey Flush of 284 WUs. Did you D/L the AP app and associated files separately from the links above [or below] that someone posted? As I stated earlier, one of my PCs (XP 32 bit) that DIDN'T start flushing WUs that had the modded app_info.xml to accept AP WUs decided to delete the AP app and associated files when BOINC started up. I am at a loss as what to do next. I know that my Q9450 has D/Led a few of the AP WUs, but BOINC deletes them even before they get into my transfer que(sp?). Otherwise I would just abort the D/L and send it back... Clk2HlpSetiCty:::PayIt4ward ![]() |

No problemo. After a "net stop boinc" ('cause I am running as a service), I copied all the associated files linked in the previous post into the ..../projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder then incorporated Richard's mods in the app_info.xml to give the following: <app_info> <app> <name>astropulse</name> </app> <file_info> <name>astropulse_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>ap_graphics_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>astropulse</app_name> <version_num>435</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>astropulse_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll</file_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>ap_graphics_4.35_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <open_name>graphics_app</open_name> </file_ref> </app_version> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>AK_v8_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>517</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>AK_v8_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>527</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>AK_v8_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>528</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>AK_v8_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> A "net start boinc" and it came up sweet as a nut. Good luck! F. ![]() |

@Fred...Thanks...No Berkeley Flush this time...worked great!! Excellent news. Now you, too, can look forward to getting just under 700 creds for 24 hours crunching ;) I take the view that Jason et al are waiting for a reasonable number of AP WU's to be crunched and validated before thinking about optimising so the quicker a "reasonable" number can be crunched and validated, the sooner that day may come. If I can crunch 1, 2 or 3 per day to help that day come sooner then that is a "good thing" to do. Much the same thought process as my reason for running CPDN - if I can crunch a model that has a deadline of 2 years in about 8 weeks, then it might help us be in time to save the planet! F. ![]() |

Processing these will probably help the project get things running smoothly and make any tweaks they need. I personally feel I should wait 'til the 'storm lessens to somewhere round a 'gale or preferably a good 'breeze though others may have better ideas and more time on their hands at the moment. Totally understood. It's pointless even thinking about optimisation until you're confident there is a stable platform to work from; and that confidence will come only from WU's being returned and validated from the widest range of platforms.
