What does the activity menu have selected right now?

Should be 2 items checked.

"Run based on preferences" and "Network activity based on preferences" are checked.

Set them both to Always and see if that starts you running.

Thanks, looks like that did it. No fancy graphics with the encanced apps, but I'm getting "SETI@home 44.13% SETI @home 29.55 %, etc. moving across the screen and the numbers increment as they move. Looks like it's running quite a bit faster, too.

Are you running a dual-core or HT (i.e. two WUs simultaneously)?

Original Mac Pro with 4 cores - looks like it's running 4 jobs at once since there are 4 different percentages, each of which is continuously incrementing.

Now that we have you running, there are two places that we have to check and see why you have such restrictive settings.

Click on the Advanced menu and select preferences.

Is there a check mark by "While Computer is in use"?

Second place to check in "Your Account" web page.
Click on Computing Preferences

Anything in there that has suspend when in use?

Thanks all for your help. I've got it running just the way I want now. Seems there was one too many places to put in the delay before the software activates.

2x 2.66 Dual Core Intel Xeon -- BOINC 5.10.29

All I'm getting is zero work and 'Communication deferred 24 hours'.

Have acted on advice in this thread and then pressed 'Update' but still no communication nor work units.

Help?

My Mac's starting receiving work units this afternoon sometime. This morning they were still denied work.

Happy computing...

Yes, they put the old scheduler back on the main project. See this post.

It would seem that not only Apple/ Macs are being denied work,My computer, running Windows Vista 32(home premium) hasn't beeen able to upload,2 completed W.U.s, or download Seti since 8th July, I mainly get error 417, I have tried Tasks- update and also advanced- retry communications But I still can't upload/ download Seti.
to check that it wasn't just a problem with my main computer I brought my old computer (Windows Vista 32) back online, but it also cant download Seti work units
I am running Boinc 5.10.45 and I am able to run World Community Grid without a problem.

Yesterday afternoon we installed in a new scheduler which included some updates necessary for the upcoming Astropulse rollout. However, our network performance took an immediate hit. After about 10 minutes trying to figure out what was causing this Jeff and I realized our scheduler switch perfectly coincided with several expensive credit-analysis queries Eric was running, also in regards to the Astropulse rollout. So it wasn't the scheduler - just the database getting overloaded. That got cleared up quickly.

Last night I noticed people complaining about Mac computers being denied work. This is still an issue, probably with the new scheduler implementation, and we'll address it shortly.

- Matt

Matt, I hope you get it working soon, because all I get is "Error:No work available to process"

Don't hold your breath. Starting late this afternoon, my Mac isn't getting any work.

Yeah. But it seems to be the scheduler completely. No communications, "Project servers may be temporarily down." Even with my Windows XP 64 bit machine.
