Which is when the world will end as it get's sucked into a Micro-Miniature Black Hole that just refuses to cooperate and dissolve. :-) That was XP SP1. me@rescam.org |

NEZ seems to be leveling out now... Yes, because the stat run is generated before the surge of uploaded results have finished. If Matt would delay the stat run a few hours after the outage, or better still, change the schedule of the daily stat run to complete before the usual weekly outage time, then the the graphs would be much smoother. I'd like to add this to the wishlist. |

I figured his RAC would jump 2 weeks ago but I didn't figure in the return dates of his wingmen. It makes sense now. me@rescam.org |

Uh oh..... how does someone get so many credits on Einstein so fast? me@rescam.org |

Uh oh..... how does someone get so many credits on Einstein so fast? They are probably multiple people with many computers linked together on 1 account. |

Uh oh..... how does someone get so many credits on Einstein so fast? Can you say CLUSTER? |

Uh oh..... how does someone get so many credits on Einstein so fast? BOINC isn't written for clustering, unless the person has written their own version of BOINC (since it is open source) that will work with clusters. |

Uh oh..... how does someone get so many credits on Einstein so fast? But on E@H there are at least 2 huge clusters participating through BOINC. Cheers, |

Can you say CLUSTER? Indeed so on all counts. The e@h clusters are clusters only in that they are closely connected PCs and that Boinc is coordinating them all on the same or similar tasks. It would be pointless to run Boinc itself on top of a cluster OS of a (closely coupled) cluster system. The real issue is how you define 'cluster'. The e@h systems only loosely fit the description in that they have a comparatively low quality interconnect between the 'cluster' nodes. They're more like what we call a server farm. Can you say CLUSTER? Martin is right. I'd call that a farm as it doesn't really qualify to technically be called a 'cluster'. Though some people refer to a generic farm a 'cluster' of computers, but I'd still call that incorrect. |

Can you say CLUSTER? According to dr. Bruce Allen: In comparison to Einstein@Home, Atlas is very general-purpose. It offers high IO bandwidth, rapid access to more than 1 Petabyte of data, fast interprocessor communication, 'reliable' hardware, and other features that E@H lacks... So I would assume that Atlas is a cluster in its most basic sense, however BOINC work done on it will be done in a sense of each node being individual PC with BOINC installed on it. Hope, this explanation eliminates our differences. Greetings, |
