Wow, looks pretty neat, also looks like it could run pretty hot, what kind of temperatures are you seeing? (Like the fan held down with twist-ties!)

Hi Dave,

here is a V8-Xeon cpuz
and here are the actual core temps
Roomtemperature is 25 celsius.
The sensor on the FB-DIMM memory shows 49 celsius.
This is with empty load, no overclocking, no crunching.
The 12cm-fans of the cpus running very slowly, there is a additional 12cm fan at the backside too. All PWM powered automatic from the board. The two 20cm big fans on the case are running with lowest speed.
I can switch of these two and regulate the speed from outside.
I hoping the server will run cool under full load too.

V8-Xeon-Server is now under full load
it crunches at same time 8wus
see the temp under full load, this looks moderate cool.
The sensor on the FB-Dimms show now 71 celsius.
Now runs the burn in test.
there you can see the machine and the first results.
happy crunching

What's that?

A 200MMX upgrade straight up to a 1kW Skulltrail?... !

OK, quite an upgrade!

How well does that system do for such as folding@home for utilising the GPU?

Nice work!

Happy crunchin',
Martin

LOL, a Skulltrail doesn't do folding, it MAKES YOU do the folding ;D

Hi,
now after 24hours full load temperatures are moderate cool. Sensor of the FB-DIMM shows constant 68 celsius, cpu temps are 43 - 55 celsius.
Boinc shows round 4000 credit/24hours. Its a nice speedup, my P4 Northwood 2,6Ghz shows 400 credit/day, means 10x more.

Hi all,
Have found UEFI Boot must be enabled in the BIOS for IA64. After make the SATA-DVD as the first boot-device in Bios, Booting from the Vista Installation disk started, but after some dialogs my wireless mouse is not known to the system, the cursor is frozen...uuuhhhh.
Maybe there is a problem, because I am behind a CYBEX 4 port adapter for monitor, keyboard, mouse.
-------------------------------------------
I have still one monitor, keyboard, mouse for all my 4 machines, normally this works fine, but it looks like the installation of Vista has a problem with this.
Did anybody of you know something about this ?

If nothing helps I must connect monitor, mouse, keyboard direct onto the machine.

Heinz

I've seen reports over the last year that say they had problems installing Vista with some old KVM's. First thing I would try is to connect directly onto the machine, and see if the hang goes away.

I just recently had problems installing XP with a KVM.

I put a DVI graphics card in the machine, and was running it through a DVI-USB switch. XP ran through the text-mode install without problems, but stalled and rebooted every time it reached the graphics-mode part of the installation.

Once I disconnected the DVI cable, and put a spare monitor on the analog VGA port, I was able to complete the install without problems. Once I'd got it tuned up, and the graphics card drivers installed, I was able to go back to the switched DVI and it works perfectly.

I have had no problems with my Hawking CS168 8 port KVM since day one......it has simply worked flawlessly........nary a issue to report.....

Are You sure that's a 7 port KVM Mark? As I see 8 buttons in that image, As Amazon says(among others) that You have an 8 port KVM.

Yes indeedy....error in my original post.....it is indeed an 8 port switch....handles all 8 rigs on the farm....

Switched over to the SSSE3x app now. So we will see if it is faster for this machine.

SSSE3x
the FB-DIMM sensor shows constant 70C, Roomtemp 26C
and SSSE3x CPU temps against SSE4.1 CPU temps.
No big difference, so we can be happy with it.
