Message 762587 - Posted: 4 Jun 2008, 0:40:13 UTC - in response to Message 762402.

People who can't relate to reality without drugging themselves with drugs and/or alcohol are of no interest to me.

But what else is the bar scene for?

Bars are meat markets to me, only go there to be a groupy to my girlfriend's band.
What I miss about Europe is, give me a pub, Weinstube anyday, just take a free seat, no "everyone has to have their own table". You meet the nicest people that way.
I am sure there are places in Berkeley and other towns, but a bit far for me, just to have a Latte.

Now when you are in love, you get a natural high.

Love is the result of finding someone who's neurosis compliments your own. Basically it is no more than a chemical reaction left over from our more primitive instincts when women looked for the best males to mate with, this is the so called high, which can be duplicated through hypnosis.

In that respect nothing has changed, except today it is not the ability to go out and kill something but the ability to make a decent if not indecently high wage.

Another point on the term love, it is promoted by and for jewelers and the retail industry so that some poor schmuck will go out and blow a few grand on a gift which will keep her happy until a schmuck with a bigger bank account shows up.

Of course if you look into human history, you can see where love has caused the downfall of the powerful and even cultures, exhibit A) Helen of Troy, and exhibit B) Cleopatra and Ceaser and then after ruining him, she was off with Marc Antony. Exhibit C Oedipus, enough said.

It is therefore better to forget about love and worry more about maintaining one's sanity. A proper mating relationship could be accomplished with a legal contract without all the emotional trappings.

Back in my day LOL, I would take dance lessons just to meet new people (Females)
I did it for 2 years and was very successful (Wink) and was a master at the beginners class.

The biggest secret was not to drink and stay sober. I don't now what its like now
cause I don't go to bars anymore and if I am at a party I am taking lots of pictures.

Rings $18, licence $10, chapel/minister I think $40, diner paid by his parents and gas $0.62 to get to Tahoe and a bit of gambling money for him, since I was not considered of age.
Cheap, yes, but also within our budget. Money is not what ended this relationship.
Sure a lot of gals would like a white wedding, me included, but I take a gentleman anyday over a moneyman.

As to the ugly points brought up, I am, and I speak the truth, uglier than a hammer head mustang, meaner than a grizzly with a tooth ache, more short tempered than a diamond back having a bad day, more set in his (i.e stubborn) than your average 5 ton boulder, and I snore.

My CO in the army once claimed I scared a tank off the road, and I have made 2nd lieutenants almost soil themselves and had trainees so terrified they requested transfers (two requested Alaska, one the NATO base in Iceland, and one asked if there were army personnel at McMurdo Station Antarctica)

My short temper has been the cause for five holed doors, one charter boat customer being tossed overboard (okay, he insulted another customer who happened to be a young lady with MS) and one night in jail after I colorfully explained to a judge why his abilities were questionable, his intelligence was lower than that of slime mold, and his parentage included at least one dog and a male of questionable moral character... I was a deputy sheriff at the time)

My two redeeming qualities are, 1) I have never struck a female in anger (I did slap a female soldier when she had a panic attack at the sight of a rather large spider in panama) and 2) I have size 13EEE feet

Yes, the snoring part is the worst, that is a real flaw, to hell with the rest, that is acceptable. LOL

Of course if you have a house with two bedrooms then your wife can have her own bedroom, so she at least can get some sleep. Again, the rest can be dealt with. ;-D

A man who's not abusive to women is a keeper, and the other one, the big feet, who cares? That's only a good thing, then she hasn't have to go with you to several shoe shops shopping for shoes for you, I guess shoes in that size are only found in a very few shops. .oO(I always hated to go with my ex when he was out shopping for clothes and shoes!)

The one day when its deemed acceptable to send cards, flowers and messages that at any other time of the year would be considered stalking and could land you in gaol!

Personally speaking- I'm not that shallow. Yes, the bling is nice but what some one can afford monitarily should not define the value of love. What one gives morally has a far greater value that ones pocket book.

Hmmm, on the creepy note, I take it that if your home decor looks like it came straight out of the middle ages, wall decorations consisted of mostly edged weapons and various types of whips, it would be creepy?

I've seen that type of home decor before- it's actually pretty kewl. As long as the items stay on the wall for decoration.. LOL
