All of my rigs have reached 65C last week, but the ambient temperature where they are kept reached 35C so they didn't stand a chance. I have put them all back to standard clocking now and the hottest is running at 54C (stock cooling).

I am only using cheap mobo's here too. I used Asus.

Ah you were Overclocking them, what speed did you make it to and which "cheap" ASUS board are you using? My phenom 9600 is using a Thermaltake CL-P0075 cooler (my CPU was an OEM and didn't have one on it). It was the only heatsink I could find to purchase that was on AMD "Approved list" I got it from Newegg for about $24 I think. If I was gong to OC mine I think I would have gone with the Tuniq Tower ($50),ZeroTherm Nirvana($50 but after rebate 40) or the Zalman 9700 ($53) it appears to be a tossup as to which is the best from every review site I have looked at and it numbers sooo many. the link for it is here. My temp has maxed at 45 and I actually got to see it at one point as cold as 17C it was idle and the ambient temp was FREEZING cold I had my window open so my Sempron which is overheating badly wouldn't shutdown.

Winning while crunching on one lowly computer which a very slowly climbing RAC.

I kinda screwed my graph because at the same time I put the new app on the quads I shut down all the old Dell machines, so I lost about 3000 RAC from that (but saved a HUGE amount of power and heat!) - but overall my RAC is still climbing, which proves how much more efficient things are now doesn't it?!

You betcha.......and if you wanna be able to get more out of your rigs, consider ditching those stock coolers and getting some aftermarket ones......
If you are interested in doing that......if you're happy with what you have, that's just fine too.

Phase 2 eh?....I can almost see the sparkle in your eyes when you say that......
And yes.....I had to adjust the speed of a couple of my rigs down just a few mhz after starting the new apps.....but the net result has still been a huge gain in productivity.......my RAC was in the 25k range before, now it is up to almost 36k......look at my Boincstats graph since about 3 weeks ago....

How long have you been running the new app on the Phenom? I put it on last week and have been watching mine rise but it is currently at 2,319.84 I've been adding almost 100 points a day on it though... How hot have the unstable ones gotten and what MGB are you using? sorry to ask so many questions about it but I am VERY interested, as I have built mine on a CHEAP mobo (ECS GeForcePM6100-M2) and intend on upgrading sometime fairly soon...

I've been running it a couple of weeks and have seen the RAC of the best rig climb from 2500 to over 3000 and it's still slowly climbing.

Thanx, yours isn't too shabby either.....and it should be climbing a bit the longer you have the opti apps runnning........

One of my rigs has crept over 3000 RAC this morning - one of the ones that has remained stable, so I figured by decreasing the speed of the unstable ones and keeping them running without crashing I might actually see a rise in RAC for the lower speed...
Wish I'd spent the extra buying Intel rigs now though, not the cheaper Phenoms, but there is always SETI Farm phase 2 ;)

Yes, but been having trouble keeping the rigs running. The temperature variations here at the moment are massive - near ground frost last night - in the 80s last week! I've just changed the motherboard in one and it appears to be more stable now and all of them are back to standard clocking for the time being.
