Message 754162 - Posted: 16 May 2008, 21:40:23 UTC - in response to Message 750901.

I have just noticed 15 ghost WU's on my results page that are not on my task page. Is there anyway to abort these units?

There's no way to selectively abort just those units.

You could, if you wanted, get them marked for re-issue to other users by detaching from the project, and then immediately re-attaching again: you should keep the same host ID, and be able to carry on crunching the genuine tasks in your cache - but they would be marked 'client detached' as well, and you would risk not getting credit for them if they happened to be re-issued to another host with a fast turn-round.

On the whole, I'd not worry about it, and just leave them to reach their deadlines and be reissued in the ordinary course of events. It's not such a big deal now that the deadlines are shorter, but thanks for thinking of your fellow-crunchers anyway.

Actual it was 20 wu's -I finished crunching the ones I had and detached so as to release the ghost work units. Sorry to the ones who have to wait for their credits.

These are referred to as ghost WU. They are assigned to you, but due to a glitch in the database or download at the server end, they get lost in transit. It's a fairly rare occurrence but it does happen. Nothing to worry about. They just get assigned to someone else for processing. They can hang around for quite some time until the project runs a cleanup sweep of the database.

Every once in a while I notice in my "Tasks for Computer" a WU shown as assigned to me and downloaded some time ago and not crunched yet by my computer. I can find no evidence of the computer every having downloaded the WU (WU not in project directory or listed in stdoutdae.txt as having been downloaded).

I am Runing Boinc 5.10.45 on both the computers in these examples

261623991

251267379

No big deal as it does not happen that often, just curious if anyone else has seen this.

Regards
