I just saw that you are a forum moderator. Because you are taking offense to something I state in a post, or the way I happen to state it, leads me to believe that you are reading from the Misfit/Fuzzy play book.

Wow, you're just full of prejudice, aren't you? Why can't you judge me on my own, by my own actions? You tell me to be fair with software, yet you're not even fair toward me yourself. You might think you have a reason to be cautious, but your justification of being cautious is at the same time not being open minded, that which you requested of me. [All of this is rhetorical - I just want to get you thinking about what you just said to me.]

Back to Psych 101. Those who accuse are often guilty themselves of that very same thing. You want me to be open minded but you can't afford me the same luxury. You're holding me guilty by association of something or someone you dislike.

To tell you the truth, I'm a bit offended that you took offense. There, I believe that balances the universe again. :)

;)

I do believe this post will get modded too.

Why, you can't speak your mind in disagreement? Just try to remember to be considerate and respectful is all I ask (not as a Mod, but as a human). At least you had the decency to apologize, which means I can assume your intentions are good.

But you're still assuming the worst about me without even knowing me. You're still not giving me a chance. That's very unfair of you.

However, this is actually all off topic and I would like to remove it for that reason alone. No one needs to read our conversation like this. PM probably would have been a wiser choice. I'm sure no one else wants to read our sappy apologies toward each other, or my Psych ramblings that they certainly don't care to hear about. ;) (Just trying to improve the quality of the boards by encouraging tolerance and understanding. I'm not perfect myself but that doesn't mean I can't try to be better.)

Why does it have to be a fight? Not giving anyone a fair chance (guilt by association just because of a Mod tag - as if the Mods are all bad), putting up your 'arms' first and shaking a retaliatory metaphorical fist isn't the best way to opening communications and coming to an understanding.

Thanks again, however, .... It boots up, even reinstalls the backup from the separate partition, but it will not boot up. It tries though, which is more than it did before.

I am going to have to stick with the XP until Santa brings along another OS, or I figure it out. XP64 is crunching nicely though.

Eventually I will get it right. Unfortunately I think the main problem is a BIOS issue... Not having everything set properly. (This happens when you have to reset the bios, due to failed overclocking) Being a bit more conservative with my overclocking now too... 4x2700MHz, crunching away calmly.

Your welcome. It was worth a try anyway.

I've always given Microsoft time to work out the bugs in new operating systems. Compatibility issues and system vulnerabilities are an absolute certainty with anything Microsoft. Apparently, I didn't wait long enough this time. LOL

Greetings CR,

Long time no see dude!

I ditched Vista myself. I had it on a less than year old laptop and it took 5 minutes to boot. I overwrote the HD with an installation of Ubuntu Linux. 1 minute boots and all hardware was recognized, even my built in wireless adapter which I was worried about. I will never put Vista on a computer. I'll wait to see what comes of Win 7.

Live long and prosper \\V/_

Hi Rick,

It's good to see you posting again.

I ran Suse Linux on one of my machines for about a year. Had some compatibility problems with my some of my hardware that I eventually worked out. I just didn't have the time or energy to learn enough to feel comfortable with it. Not being able to use programs that I've spent years working with didn't make it any better.

Microsoft has assimilated me. :)

So is anything deemed 'shocking', but that doesn't make it the best way to do things effectively. ;)

Oh you know, just from bad experiences with a number of mods who went rather power crazy. I now treat mods the way i'd treat anyone with a loaded shotgun in their hands. Nothing personal. You seem to be ok though so lets stop this before anything escalates.

Sorry if i seemed rather abrupt earlier, it was quite late. Lets put aside our differences and get back to bashing Micro$oft. :-)

... Oh you know, just from bad experiences...

OT-ish:

"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it"...

Since the various previous 'stirrings', we do indeed now seem to have a much better view of the forums. I've not been banned for quite some time!

OT-ish #2:

Try to take the example of the present rather than the prejudice of the past. There's far too many wars still being fought in the name of whatever excuses from centuries and millenia ago...

And perhaps one of the worst forms of corruption is when there is a monopoly in whatever way and backed by the force of a blind dictatorship... No corporation with an absolute power of huge finance can possibly be benign...

(All my own personal views as ever!)

Regards,
Martin
