Hi Siruos,

download the client and put it in a folder wherever you want. Now download SETI Control from versiontracker.com. Launch SETI Control 2.4, go to the menu SETI Control/Preferences and enter the complete path to the client (e.g. /Users/Siruos/BOINC_Seti@Home/boinc_4.09_powerpc-apple-darwin ). Next click "SETI Start". You will be asked for the URL to the project ( http://setiathome.berkeley.edu ) and your account ID. Enter both from the confirmation EMail you received after you registered at the BOIN-SETI homepage ( http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/create_account_form.php ).

Good luck!

I have the same problem but following the steps above did not seem to work. I found Seti control v2.5 as it seems to supplant v2.4. I entered the proper path and clicked "Seti Start" Nothing seemed to happen. When I clicked stop, I was told that it was already stopped.

Can anyone help me with this. I'm a Windows guy with access to a Mac Dual G5. I really want to get this thing crunching.

I'm not sure what the hell is going on but... I downloaded the and expanded the boinc_4.13_powerpc-apple-darwin file, I changed permissions on it in the terminal with chmod +..., and the machine would not recognize it as an executable. Very frustrating. then, by chance, I shortened the name of the file. Now it runs, but only from a terminal window after double clicking on it from the OS X gui. Very strange. What the heck is going on with this thing? Also, none of fancy graphics like on PC's. Will there be enhancements to the mac version?

ok well once ya get boinc.. put it in a folder you want it in, like in your users folder, withen a folder named boinc or something...in terminal type in cd boinc and press return.. and since ya just got it... if its still ending with gz..? type in gunzip boinc.gz or whatever the file name is, (type ls and return if you don't know this will list whats in the folder), and press return, this will unconpress it.. then type in chmod u+x boinc(press tab to complete the rest of the file name) and press return, this will make it exacutable.. now type ./ boinc(press tab to complete the file name) and press return, now your running... I wouldn't use 3rd party programs just cause well it runs better during it what i said above, it will say its running in something like this in your terminal window, Starting result 05mr04aa.24579.4689.429814.95_1 using setiathome version 4.30
i also use the Team macNN compile, you can get that through here if you go to a 3rd party link at the boinc/seti download page..

also, if you want to know the progress of ur computing, in another terminal window, if the boinc is in your users folder withing boinc folder or something, type in cd boinc/slots/0 press return, then type in grep prog state.sah press return, the result will look like this..
mattruth:~/boinc/slots/0 mattruth$ grep prog state.sah
