It won't work on the stable release.... ># ldd boinc ./boinc: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by ./boinc) linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libnsl.so.1 => /lib/tls/libnsl.so.1 (0xb7f6f000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/tls/libdl.so.2 (0xb7f6b000) libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0xb7f57000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 (0xb7e72000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7e60000) libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/libm.so.6 (0xb7e3a000) libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0xb7d08000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fac000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0xb7cfd000) ># A couple responses I got to this issue from other threads suggested moving to Debian unstable, or changing to a different distro. Unfortunately, those are just 'lipstick on the pig' solutions... staying at 5.8.16 appears to be the only logical solution at this point. |

Run BOINC version 5.8.16 instead. Should work fine with the older GLIB. |

I guess another option would be to compile your own BOINC from source. Too much hassle for me. Until they statically link the boinc executables, there will be some GLIB dependency. |
