I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. They are Intel Pentium D CPU 3.40GHz and Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz. The Pentium D has been running for about 2 weeks and has completed 36 tasks with a recent average credit of 243.6. The Core 2 for a few days and has completed 58 with a recent average credit of 94.35. Huh? Does that make sense? Jason |

Yes, it does. Not all workunits are created equal. They vary in length of time to complete, and in how many floating point operations per second (FLOPS or FPOPS) it takes to complete. Credit is given based upon how many FLOPS a particular workunit needs to complete. Also, you said that the Core 2 system has only been running for a few days. RAC can take a few weeks to fully adjust. Just wait, that Core 2 is going to blow the Pentium D away in average credit. |

Yes, it does. Thanks Ozzfan for the quick response. I just moved to Santiago a month ago. Ozzy was here a few days after I arrived. I wanted to see him so bad but I was too busy settling in to get tickets or go to a concert. :-( Someday for sure I will see him. I've never gotten the chance. I would like to get to see him with another Sabbath reunion. Jason |

I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. Of course, the RAC will also depend on your 'Wing-men' and all the variables of their machines - CPU, app used, WU cache, time and frequency of 'crunching' etc. The Core 2 will show the Pentium D, a clean pair of heels, very quickly! Unless I've had a 'blonde moment', isn't the T7500 a 'mobile' CPU? Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. Yes. T7xxx is the mobile version of the Core 2 Duo line. Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope. |

I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. Hi, have read your story, i use a Pentium D 820(Smithfield)2,8GHz and was using a T2400 C2D @ 1,83GHz. The T2400 performed 1,5X the Pentium D, compaired MIPS & FLOPS. You can download the CPUz or another program to calculate the CPU amount off Floating Points Per Second. Here is a download site to such programs: SiSoftSandra *** Keep On Crunching *** |

I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. Usually a Core 2 Duo will be around double the speed of a Pentium D at the same clock speed. |

I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. Correct, they also are the 'basis' off the Core2Quad CPU's, as they are made off 2 C2D on 1 'DIE'. (Or piece off silicon, also called 'wafer'). And they share the L2 CACHE. That is 1 C2D's, has 1 L2 cache CPUz e.a. |

Don't forget that RAC takes about 30 days to stabilize completely. |

I have two computers running seti@home via BOINC. Just thought I'd update this thread with my current status. Everybody was spot on with their advice. The RAC stat for my Core 2 Duo (which is a mobile T7500) is around 514 (and still going up actually) and for the Pentium D desktop machine is around stable around 243. Took longer than I expected for the RAC to catch up. Thanks, Jason |

On my other account, My Turion64 x2 gets about 500~600 RAC. It is clocked at 1.6 Ghz, and has 2 cores. I would think that the core 2 would get a higher credit. Unless it runs less than 24/7. |

besides the higher credit E2200 versus the Pentium D 3.4ghz... the other main benefit is that the E2200 will not be a supplemental furnace. i have a e2200 overclocked at 2.85ghz and the coretemps are steady at 36C. i have a pentium d 805 (2.66ghz-stock speed) and the coretemps are 52C. a huge difference at this time of year. |
