So does anybody have some leverage with GC (get their bandwidth from them) that can push the issue? Or does GC not provide service directly to end users? "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

anybody tried putting lunatics.kwsn.net in your hosts file ? ... the address is 206.132.254.42 It's not a problem with DNS, the IP address is available otherwise traceroutes wouldn't even start. The difficulty is that they've broken the web such that it isn't routing through alternate paths as it should. Joe |

It's not a problem with DNS, the IP address is available otherwise traceroutes wouldn't even start. The difficulty is that they've broken the web such that it isn't routing through alternate paths as it should.Aah I see. And here I thought the web routing bit was 'sposed to adapt in case of breakages like nuclear attack or something ... I guess they forgot to mention that requires people to push the right buttons.Joe "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. anybody tried putting lunatics.kwsn.net in your hosts file ? ... the address is 206.132.254.42 I don't get it, all the weeks, people complain that Lunatics is out 'the air' . Traced it too, no problems??? (Even now the KPN reprted big problems yesterday and isn't still fixed completely.) haven't had a single problem from Holland, that is, but since it's even further, kind off weird, logical thinking doesn't help on that one. Other people from ' the rest off the world, haven't reported problems. I noticed *** Keep On Crunching *** |

I don't get it, all the weeks, people complain that Lunatics is out 'the air' . Until one week ago I didn't have any problems reaching it either... Then my ISP changed (old ISP bought by another company last year, but now they want customers to use the ISP they already had) and I get stopped at same IP: 6 47 ms 48 ms 41 ms te1-3.ar3.CPH1.gblx.net [64.215.27.125] 7 145 ms 149 ms 141 ms 64.209.102.222 8 * * * Request timed out. Windows: "Where do you want to go today?" Linux: "Where do you want to go tomorrow?" ... FreeBSD: "Are you guys coming, or what?" "(II) do I need RAC? No, I don't." from FreeBSD Xorg.0.log ;) |

Puhlees.... Let's call a duck a duck. 1.) Both John and I have worked one on one with a Tier 1 (ATT) and/or a Tier 2 (RR) bandwidth provider. Both of them have said that they have no peering disputes currently on their backbone peering connections. I have no reason to assume they are blowing smoke up my wazoo at this point. 2.) GC has said that they don't have a specific reason why any of their Tier 3 customers should be cut off at the moment for any of their border gateways. 3.) The DNS and RDNS records for the Coop/KWSN are messed up (they don't agree). This alone in this day and age is sufficient reason to cause a connection to get dropped at network borders under certain circumstances depending on the preferred route reported to/by BGP. 4.) Nothing is going to happen to correct the problem until the hostee makes a complaint to their hosting service or bandwidth provider and gets a service ticket going to fix the underlying issue. Hi, Hi Heinz, If it isn't repaired by the time I get back on top of my other work, then we'll make some alternative arrangements. I rely on much of the historic development information from the Lunatic's site and I feel I might need to figure a way to make some library of some of that awesome stuff in case the site goes down for good or another link breaks. I wonder how big the whole site would be ? Glad your V8 is running well, and have fun with the big step up from a Northwood ;D Jason "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. If anyone can find something like a web reflector that's written in html or php or mac software, I will host it on my server to fix this issue. I'm a Prefectionist ;) |

Ok since last I looked I can get to the lunatics website, I've placed a link at the following address below: This is a routing problem on the internet. That wil never be solved by creating a link on another website. After following this link the users own DNS server resolvesthe IP adress and a connoctien to this site is created from his machine. There wil be no difference between using a link somewhere on the internet or typing it in yourself. Whitout gettining in to the technical details to much routers are a bit like sings with directions. Traffic passing follows the direction and takes a path to te next router. Some router at this moment has a wrong sing directing traffic the wrong way. |

Nothing is going to happen to correct the problem until the hostee makes a complaint to their hosting service or bandwidth provider and gets a service ticket going to fix the underlying issue. I thought they hadf made a complaint. Even then still nothing happens. |
