Message 755993 - Posted: 20 May 2008, 11:14:32 UTC - in response to Message 755992.

Hi,
since 18 of april the lunatics site is dead for me.. ;-(
and the chance it come back is going to zero.
So i must search a new way to comminicate with the developer team.
It's a little bit pitty, but it looks there is no other way.

heinz

Hi Heinz,
If it isn't repaired by the time I get back on top of my other work, then we'll make some alternative arrangements. I rely on much of the historic development information from the Lunatic's site and I feel I might need to figure a way to make some library of some of that awesome stuff in case the site goes down for good or another link breaks. I wonder how big the whole site would be ?

Glad your V8 is running well, and have fun with the big step up from a Northwood ;D

Jason

I don't get it, all the weeks, people complain that Lunatics is out 'the air' .
Traced it too, no problems??? (Even now the KPN reprted big problems yesterday and isn't still fixed completely.)

haven't had a single problem from Holland, that is, but since it's even further, kind off weird, logical thinking doesn't help on that one.

Other people from ' the rest off the world, haven't reported problems. I noticed

That link worked for me as well

Newsflash
And I just discovered I can get there direct now as well (from 2 different computers and a different ISP than the one I tried the link on just to make
sure)

Edit: I get lunatics.kwsn.net as per the link above but cannot hit lunatics.at from the links on the optimised apps thread

If anyone can find something like a web reflector that's written in html or php or mac software, I will host it on my server to fix this issue.

Well I tried:(, I'll leave the link up for those that It works for in any case.

This is a routing problem on the internet.
That wil never be solved by creating a link on another website.

After following this link the users own DNS server resolvesthe IP adress and a connoctien to this site is created from his machine.
There wil be no difference between using a link somewhere on the internet or typing it in yourself.

Whitout gettining in to the technical details to much routers are a bit like sings with directions.
Traffic passing follows the direction and takes a path to te next router.
Some router at this moment has a wrong sing directing traffic the wrong way.

Nothing is going to happen to correct the problem until the hostee makes a complaint to their hosting service or bandwidth provider and gets a service ticket going to fix the underlying issue.

I thought they hadf made a complaint.
Even then still nothing happens.

I now have my server running ssh, so you can browse the internet through it!
More info and how to setup here:
link

Server address: bota.no-ip.biz
User: public
Password: none
Port: default (22)

Please use this as minimal as possible ~ I have a slower internet connection

Remember - you can only use the included command if you are logged in as root!
I recommend using the -C (compression) argument
If any of you who have a working connection want to, there are instructions to set up your own server
(the one thing they are missing is port forwarding - see comment on bottom of page)

WHAT!!!

I suggest you disable immediately...

Far better is to just set your machine up as a web proxy.

No need for shell access. No wide open invitation to get hacked.

Good luck,
Martin

XP pro can be used as a web server IIS you just have to install it and configure it. It's on the XP cd. Go to control panel and go to add/remove programs and on left go to add/remove windows components and install IIS. Or you could get a server os.

I already tried copying the site to my hard drive and running it on my server, but most of the links are set up in a manner that they try to load the actual site when you click on them. I was not willing to change all the links.....

Make one copy for your server and leave the other one as the original. You can do this easily using a good editor with a find and replace function. I use html-kit 290 it is free ware there are others.

What are you trying to do exactly?

If you just wish to mirror the lunatics download optimised apps, then just mirror them onto your website. For the paranoid, make sure those apps are digitally signed from lunatics.

If you want to offer a 'tunnel' to allow others to see the lunatics site for those whom have routing problems, then simply put in place a "web proxy".

If you're trying to do 'anonymising', then that's something else again.

(I wouldn't use IIS for obvious reasons.)

Good luck,
Martin

Let me see if I can do a better job of expressing my self. Almost all editors have a function key such as F3 which is a find function such as if I want to find this my old url http://pdharris1.tripod.com I would open my web page with my html editor and press the function key F3 and type in my old url http://pdharris1.tripod.com and then press enter and it will find all entries of http://pdharris1.tripod.com on my web page and that is the find function. My and most html editors also have a find and replace feature of the find function. I open my web page with my html editor and press the F3 key and enter my old url http://pdharris1.tripod.com and then check replace box and type in my new url http://pdharris.com and press enter and it will replace all of my old url's http://pdharris1.tripod.com with my new url http://pdharris.com on my web page and that is how I transferred my old web site to my new web site on all my html pages.
I hope I did a better job of explaining this time.

Email me a sample html page and I will see if I can help you. pauldharris@hotmail.com

Strange, as i noticed, most complaints off LUNATIC's outage are from the U.S., this is going on for quite a while now.

No problems, acessing it from Holland, some(parts)off Europe, France reported also problems.

Hard to figure out, what is going wrong? Can it be blocked, for some reason???
