My SETI consumption is currently 2,200W which I will need to get under control soon! I had to move all my PCs into the garage because the noise & heat was too much for the house.

Currently, I only have 5 PCs (ranging from Pentium III to Q6600) in my farm, so after taking a few out there won't be many left.

I recently bought a digital meter (from eBay) that allowed me to see how much power my farm was using. I was fairly shocked to see the number of watts my farm was drawing - 460W. This will not seem much to those with farms containing dozens of machines, but it is alot to me. And the noise and heat is making my small room uncomfortably noisy and hot. Combine the PC exhaust heat with a geographical location near the equator (I live in Singapore) and the temptation to reach for the air-con controller is irresistable...

I've thought about moving some PCs to my house's attic, but that would only solve the noise problem. The PCs still draw too many watts, and for some technical reason the electricity supply up there is not smooth (the voltage spikes up and down sometimes).

I'm not paying the electricity bill (my parents are), so I don't want to add too much to their electric bill. Maybe when I get a job in the future and can pay for the electricity, I'll expand my farm.
