Message 781382 - Posted: 10 Jul 2008, 21:18:22 UTC - in response to Message 781362.

Servers have come back up again, for the second time tonight.

For how long will they remain up, I wonder?

You had to say that, didn't You? ;) Hopefully that's over with for a long while. :D

My problem seems to have cleared up and both systems have uploaded and reported all units.

Only 2:30am, We've had 3 power outages in the last 3 days, a pair of obsolete power transformers for the 2 water wells failed(they were replaced with 3 New ones in 100F+ Temps, Those Southern California Edison employees Rock! As they dropped what they were doing at a nearby military base and came here) This happened either on Tuesday or Wednesday I might add, Then the weather killed the power from 8:05pm PDT Thursday to 4:00pm PDT Friday(2 Tornadoes dropped 15-18 power poles on 2 different roads, A fuse on the power pole somewhere had not been reset and the people on the phone thought our loss of power was connected to the loss of the poles even though a place down the road had plenty of power), Then We had one more outage @ 5am for 11 minutes which was weird as I don't know what caused that one.

LOL....without faith there is nothing....
Ya gotta believe in something....and I believe I'll have another round...LOL.

Actually, I believe I must reboot some rigs here.....
There were some awfully strong storms thru here last night.

The power berked on me, and the AC kicked the breaker out....when I woke up this morning, it was over 95 in the crunching den....bad news.

Just discovered that 4 of my rigs succumbed to heat exhaustion....I took advantage of the power down to remove the kitty hair from the cooling fans.....OMG, you should see that mat of fur behind those fans......

Since the restart of the upload server things have been going along nicely.
However the next few days could be interesting as all the work i've been getting have been short Work Units (approx 16 min or so). Not a single longer Work Unit amongst them.
So it looks like the system's going to be under a pretty heavy load for a while even after everyone's cleared their upload & download backlogs.

To quote the most hated Star Wars character of all times, Jar Jar Binks, "Messa thinka we needa more File_Delete tasks."

2.3 million workunits and 4.9 million results waiting to purge is about 4 to 5 times higher than normal and now appears to be the current database bottleneck. Or does the DB purge task take care of that? Either or the results tables is full of files needing removal.
