The BBC News Site has some brilliant pictures that are often missed and are usually interesting, intriguing or just plain weird, so thought I'd start a thread here to show "England's Big Picture" as they are posted. They only stay on the BBC site for a short while each, so I thought it would be nice to keep a record of them. Feel free to comment or just enjoy. |

We see the Red Arrows quite often, and their practice is much like your picture. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

I haven't seen them for years John, probably about 15 years! When I saw that picture of them the memories flooded back. Here's a weird one for today: A specialist in head reconstruction works on the skull of a boy who lived about 1,000 years ago in the Dutch town of Vlaardingen. Remains of four people were found recently in the market square. DNA analysis has already traced a lineage from one of the adults to a dentist living in nearby Rotterdam. |

AHHH that brings back memories of living in barracks at HMS Drake whilst waiting on HMS Ark Royal to finish its refit in the early 70's Drake is the base attached to Devonport dockyard. Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |

John, this may be a long shot but do you remember any one by the name of Richard George Horne? |

John, this may be a long shot but do you remember any one by the name of Richard George Horne? Cant say as I do,you have to realise that there were nearly 2500 men on that ship, and unless he was in either the junior rates galley or the senior rates galley I probibly did not come in contact with him I was a cook. Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |

Not such good eye candy as this mornings picture, but very topical to us anyway. Europe's unmanned cargo ship, Jules Verne, pictured from the International Space Station on Monday during the demonstration manoeuvres that brought the vessel to 12m from the platform. Dislodged thermal blankets are visible on the side of the ship. |
