Picked this up in the Times World-leading telescopes face being shut down to save £2.5m Seeing as it would be a drop in the ocean to either of them, I hardly think it matters where it came from. I've just signed both petitions, and wish I was in the fortunate position to fund it. Must be tax deductible too! This country is now rapidly sliding downhill. The books and balance sheets are all that matters, and we are losing our place as one of the scientific leaders in the world. The government seems to think that if they save a few quid here and there, it will make everybody happy, but they are so far out of touch with the population now, that they are pleasing nobody but themselves. P.S. In the wake of the government losing all our personal data due to various mishaps, they have also lost over 1600 laptops from government departments over the past year. That's ok, because they make their savings taking money off hard working joe public and reducing services... (Rant over!!!) A proud GPU User Server Donor! |

Picked this up in the Times World-leading telescopes face being shut down to save £2.5m So Gates will have the say in where the money is donated. And I would think Gates might like donating to a scientific cause. |
