It seems you were right! I came back a long while later and found my computer hard at work. (My 4-core processor is now being 100% used! It's kind of scary actually... Is this good for my processor? :O) Just run Everest to see what is temperature of the CPU - if it is below 45 Celsius it is OK. You can check at Intel's site what is the maximum operating temperature of your CPU to be sure. CPU will last many years (only if lightning don't strike near-by :) ) Mine is: Mainboard 28-32 deg C, CPU 38-42 deg C (Athlon 64 3500+). |

IMO no not really (temp overload aside) ... I throttled back to 70% as I really don't see the need for my CPU's to fry ;) Sure SETI can have plenty cycles but to burn baby burn isn't my idea of heaven. |

Not that I have much experience BUT this seems pretty normal ATM .. just leave it to run for a while ... mine eventually D/L-ed the required bits n bobs :) Note: Home Network with firewall allowing HTTP. |

I have found that if an instance of IE is opened to an external website on the pc then SETI does work from behind corporate firewalls.. Same at my company, they block SETI/BOINC on firewall and proxy settings. Pitty though. [/quote] |

Of course right at the moment this may be this issue for most people: "The service is not available. Please try again later." (response received when trying to 'pull' one of the pngs from the DL server) Alinator |

http errors are usually firewall related. If you have yours disabled, you'll have to speak with your campus IT guys to find out if they allow http type downloads. |
