Fortunately, AGELESS has been very kind to help me get some of the machine back in working order and have only had one BSOD in the past two weeks. A MAJOR improvement for the usual every time I was online suffering from a system failure.

See? I do something good around here. ;-)

Oh yeah? PROVE IT! Uhhh... wait...

I just thought I'd inform everyone that it can't solely be ATi's chips that are problematic.

Definately not OzzFan, I am usind an eMachines computer with nVidea chipsets that has been nothing but problematic all the way around. At first, anytime I tried to go online I would lock up with BSOD, New Years Eve this happened a total of 4 times in less than 3 hours. It has some kind of Mutation between Win XP Pro and XP Home Edition on it (IT was a hand me down machine, I certainly did not install it this way!) Wanting to take large implements of destruction to it EVERY SINGLE DAY at least once or twice for its quirky behavior. It has caused so much aggrevation I let it be a paperweight for a few months until I was prepared to be aggrevated yet again. Fortunately, AGELESS has been very kind to help me get some of the machine back in working order and have only had one BSOD in the past two weeks. I'm a loyal ATi user; all my systems run ATi graphics cards. So far, I have not had any problems with any of my machines and ATi chips.

Sorry OzzFan, no attack there, saw for the second time in this forum some one with an ATI problem and video troubles.

Didn't take it as an attack. I just thought I'd inform everyone that it can't solely be ATi's chips that are problematic.

See that you use an ATI card, you're the second one. Can there be a connection, driver updates? Maybe other guys on this site can help you with your problem?

Most dust problem you get if your system is running on the floor and on carpets, no work around here, just open up the system and dust your coolers..:)

I had this same problem with my compaq a few weeks ago. I opened up the case and found that dust was interfering with the operation of the cpu fan, thus causing my cpu to overheat. My guess would be that the same is true for you.

I am running a athlon 64 x2 @ 3800 with 2 megs of ram on a ati graphics cad with 256K on it.

I guess you mean Gigabyte and Megabyte, not Megabyte and Kilobyte? ;-)

Anyway, so you notice this when you've run for 3 to 4 hours? Have you checked for heat? Checked the inside of the case lately for dust?

Hello everyone

I have begun to notice that after Seti runs for a long time like 3 or 4 hours I can not get proper control of my machine meaning when I launch a web browser " that part works fine" then try to scroll down the page the screen slowly lopes down the page. If the screen saver runs for only an hour or a little more it does not do this; I tried adjusting the cpu usage and the differant settings changed nothing! I also observed in the task manager that the cpu usage when up to 50% on a dual core machine, normally I would observe very little increase. I am running a athlon 64 x2 @ 3800 with 2 megs of ram on a ati graphics cad with 256K on it.

Try run for spyware, malware or trojans virus or check your processor settings in Boinc or on your local pc. See that you use an ATI card, you're the second one. Can there be a connection, driver updates? Maybe other guys on this site can help you with your problem?
