Such a long time of outage shows us it is really necessary to have our own communication platform for the developer-team. We should run a board with VM on one of our crunching hosts. So we have no additional costs and we can do what we want. My proposals are written in the TestProject. u can use space on seti.dduke.sk if u want .... register and i make u administrator of the site ....

DNS changes have been made. We've got a relatively short TTL (1 hour), so for ISPs that have compliant DNS caches, people should be able to access the sites soon. thats good to hear. |

Well, the earth still isn't moving for me! Has the server gone back down again or has the Knights' address changed? The DNS update sometimes takes many hours to filter through the web because some ISP's have long TTL's. see Ned's post for info on TTL. |

Well, the earth still isn't moving for me! Has the server gone back down again or has the Knights' address changed? (jonnyv here) The server (as in the hardware and software) is up. We're just waiting on the DNS updates. Unforunately, I didn't get the email off to our dns admin until late in the evening. So sometime in the morning on the US east coast, the update should happen and then people should start being able to access the sites as DNS caches get updated. |

The server is back up! We are just waiting for DNS to be updated. This should be done within the next few hours. If you know how, you can add 206.132.254.42 to your hosts file and access it right now. However lunatics.at will no longer be accessible. It is now lunatics.kwsn.net -this change actually happened a while ago because we were unable to contact simon about an IP change but the server was still responding to lunatics.at until now. There is a post by jonnyv on the lunatics front page explaining this but apparently the ISP where the server is hosted decided to do some IP rearrangement and forgot to mention it to our contact. Unfortunately we don't have direct contact with the ISP so this adds some delay to any technical glitches that come up. As I mentioned before, we are investigating other options that may improve the situation. Sorry for the outage and thank you for bearing with us! A member of The Knights Who Say NI! Looking now and I'll consider it and put responses there soon. Long day here, probably won't get to look at this properly 'til weekend , and hopefully Lunatics will be back up by then. Yep, KWSN down too and has been for several days. I had no idea that the Knights were hand in hand with Lunatics. Seems very appropriate! Perhaps a merger could be managed - how about the combined Lunatic Knights who say "Ni!"??? Only half kidding - together Pythonesque madness could rule the BOINC world. since yesterday I have no access to www.lunatics.at

I just had a conversation with our guy in Atlanta today and am hopeful that we will be back some time tomorrow. (Tuesday) *crosses fingers* Can't complain too much about free colocation but with these kinds of outages (we had a similar one just over a year ago) we are considering other options. Will keep you posted. A member of The Knights Who Say NI! For rankings, history graphs and more, check out: My BOINC stats site |

Hi Jason, Hmmm Yes, I will consider what to do this week while studying / working.. I may have to set up something 'temporary' for that too ... Any idea of any good, free 'out of the box' very lean forum software ? I don't really have time to maintain anything elaborate ... Yeah we lost network access to the server yesterday. We are talking to our hosting provider. He says it looks like the whole network segment we are on went down so at least its not just us :) Well You know what they say, Misery loves company, So at least as You said It's not just the lunatics.at website. Hopefully they'll fix It soon, I know what It's like to lose all connectivity, Verizon or someone recently had the whole high desert go offline into a proverbial black hole all cause some contractor cut a fiber optic cable(The Contractor probably didn't have enough fiber that day;)).
