It's your computer name, the one you gave to recognize the computer on the network.

Well, so far overnight none of the WU have exitted after 1second, so Id say its a success :) thanks for the help mate, so glad it seems to be fixed now :)

Exiting the application will help before shutting down. Had that problem before!

True, but the rig in question hasnt been turned off in over 2months ;) but my laptop which also runs vista, if I dont snooze before a hibernate/shutdown, I lose a good number of WU (whether or not they have been crunched) with comp errors.

Seems to be fixed in this version though, so Im really grateful for that :D

I'm glad for you they fixt your problem, hopefully you didnt mis to many WU credits. Happy crunching you data..:)

Thanks mate, Im running the Crunch3r SSSE3 version on the C2D.. not sure if its worth it over SSE3, but time will tell. Ill let you know what happens in a day or so.

Also I noticed that the one I downloaded from Crunch3rs site was still called KWSN, did I get the right one?

Cheers :)

Yes, Crunch3r just did some minor modifications to the KWSN code (or it may only have been compiler directives) to work round the Vista problem.

Provided the revision number says 2.4V, you should be fine on Vista.

PS I assume you've also seen the advice for Vista users: install BOINC to anywhere except 'C:\\Program Files" (it has special restrictions), and shut down BOINC before using the Vista fast shut-down feature.

Thanks mate :) Ill see if it fixes it :)

This problem is really starting to bug me. It seems that 60% of WU will just exit after 1second and say they are completed, then when I check the SETI site it says there was an access violation. Now, I believe I have done the "workarounds" to the no vista support thing (ie change install directory), but come on.. Vista has been out for how long? I would have thought there'd at least be some support for it now.. Either way, any ideas on how to fix this? This is the rather lengthy result ID I get

The 2.4 builds from KSWN are known to have Vista compatibility problems. Use the 2.4V versions from Crunch3r instead.
