Unhealthy obsession.

I have these (now in the garage)

& a quad.

The oldies are going to get wound down and replaced with Quads this year.

All the quads that you are adding should raise your average credit. I have what you would call a seti garden because I only have two computers currently crunching data (hope to get more soon though).

I am a little bit obsessed. Loking at the shoutbox history each day and readind/writing. We can add one more criteria - "reading shout box history at boincstats every day" :)

To emphasize my obsession, I'm considering dumping my Hot Water Tank for a Tankless Water Heater and getting an EdenPURE heater to try and cut our electric costs...

Anyone have experience with these???

why not just use crunchers to heat water?
(just run little tubes through the heatsink) LOL
Would be a good & efficent system though - cools crunchers and heats water
Until a cruncher dies......

I'm a Prefectionist ;)

...and to think I thought my setup of 3 desktops and an old laptop (8 processors) was over the top. Compared to this spread, mine is nothing more than a patch of weeds. :-)

Oh, I also have another Dual Core crunching at work. Just can't seem to remember to cut it off when I leave. OOPS. It's hard to remember at my age....

You'll like the Quad.

Did someone say Weeds? Then We better get the Hula hoe out and uproot those weeds, Before the weeds go to seed and attempt to spread.

IMHO every Hobby is (to some extend) an obsession.

Otherwise it wouldn't be fun, would it ?

Currently running 48 Cores, very high Energy prices are the only thing that limits me *g*

So, i'm quite 'normal' , speaking off crunching, running 1 OCed @ 3GHz and 1
stock, 2,4GHz Q6600's .And a P4D 820 @ 2,8GHz.
Thats 10 cores
The last ones, using Crunch3rs Optimized App. for WIN32.

No 'rehab' for me ;)

OK then. My farm currently has 37 cores. Would that be considered a Healthy or Unhealthy obsession? (Cause we all know it at least rates as an obsession...)

My farm usually has 24 cores......down to 22 at the moment....lost one of the duos a couple of days ago...just locked up, and I can't seem to get it running again...don't know whether it's a hardware problem or a bios screwup....don't have much time to play with it during the work week, maybe I'll get it sorted over the weekend......

My farm has 12 cores, It could have 14 instead of 12, But It's an old Opteron 165 with XP Pro on It.

Healthy of course ;)

But in my opinion, weather you run 1 PC (c.q CORE) or a 100, it still is a hobby.

Even if you'r just as busy (24/7), as your computers, although some sleep is always nice ;), it'll keeps you alert, busy and sometimes it makes
your adrenaline pumping through your veines. I think it's only healthy !
.

When you become more and more in debt, cause off electrical bills and/or bying

all the latest hardware, by the lot, while you can't effort it.

I think, that's the moment to seek help and (forced to) kick down !?!?

But then i think, the avaerage 'cruncher' is way too smart to let that happen.

I guess it becomes unhealthy when you walk into the local PC store and see all of the demo PCs just sitting there with the generic screen saver running.

Just think of the potential RAC, and you don't even have to worry about the power bills....
