My seti@home was working fine for a couple of weeks, now it won't restart. It says "computation suspended -network activity is suspended",because the computer is being used, but even if I leave the computer for half an hour it won't restart. This wasn't happening when I first started BOINC. My screensaver is set to start after 5 minutes of no use. |

Check BOINC Manager -> Advanced Mode (if you're not already running it) -> Activity -> Network Activity based upon preferences. |

I had this very same problem last night and it didn't matter what I did, I couldn't get it to start back. I adjusted all of my preferences in advanced mode, telling it to run always, suspending network activity, network activity always run, even adjusted preferences. After 30 minutes or so of attempting to get it to start back I gave up and went to bed, when I got up this morning it had completed the task. I had another issue when I tried to merge because for some reason I keep getting multiple IDs for the same computer. I have started a new thread under Merge Error with the exact message I received. I wasn't sure if this is related to the problem or not. Even though in simple mode it didn't seem to refresh the screen it did appear to work after my screen saver program come up and the work unit completed without any other issues. |

I had a very similar problem to this, yesterday, after adding another 'identical' PC (only differences are the Graphics card, HD space, the 'newer' PC uses 5.10.30, as opposed to 5.10.28 and differently named). Aside from a small cat bouncing all over the key-board, which caused other problems, (PC2 was merged with PC1), PC2 would not do any work at all - it was suspended. I think the message was, 'Task Suspended - User Active', but after some welcome advice I went through a few things and perhaps by luck, found that going into the Advanced tab and selecting Run Always, it was up and running. Somewhere I've lost 4 or 5 WUs, but thats a different problem! |
