If all goes as is planned I should have enough money this summer to build a quad core processor, 4 gigs of ram and a 1T hard drive.

Yes, except for the fact that this is also going to be the computer I use on a daily basis, so its not all going to be available for WUs, but a lot will be.

1T drives - always nice to join the TB club :) The 2 crunching PC's here have a combined total of 3.78TB, and seti barely makes a scratch on the available space for some odd reason ;)

1. Slow but steady
P3 1.0ghz
500mb of RAM
Windows XP Pro

2. Loaner
PentiumD 805 2.6ghz
1gb of RAM
Windows XP Pro

3. Dad's Machine
PentiumD 805 3.0ghz
2gb of RAM
Windows XP Pro

4. Laptop (My usage computer)
Core Duo T2300
2gb of RAM
Windows XP Pro

5. In Progress
Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2ghz (will crank it up some)
2gb of RAM
Windows XP64

All are monitorless unless I'm tweaking something, and the Loaner runs as a media server for my Xbox 360.

I had a AMD XP 2400+ (clocked to 2600+) that just went kaput on me, I suspect motherboard as number one failure, so I decided now was the time to build a new Core 2 Duo system.

Updating my own post lol

Lost Dad's machine due to hard drive issues, have not reinstalled BOINC yet.

Loaner computer switched to xp64 yesterday, will see how the RAC is affected.

The In Progress machine has been up and running for awhile, e4500 clocked to 3.0ghz (333x9) and completely stable with xp64.

The AMD system did turn out to be a motherboard issue, processor and RAM are running fine in a different mobo that was a gift to a family member who when asked, made the choice not to run BOINC, and I did leave that up to him.

Looking at upgrading the laptop to a T7200 (Core2Duo 2.0ghz) with part of the tax refund, but we shall see.
Daniel

PC 2 (MediaPC)
CPU: Q6600-G0 Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
Speed: 3.0Ghz (2.4 is stock)

MoBo: Gigabyte DS3R
Power supply: 750W (Continuous) Silverstone
Case: Thermaltake Bach VX
RAM: Geil 2GB DDR2 800
OS: Windows XP Professional
HDD's: 5*500GB SataII, 1*320EIDE

PC3 (Vixen) *Only runs occasionally*
CPU: E6300 running with stock cooling & speeds.
MoBo: Asus (Model unknown)
Power supply: 500W Generic
Case: Thermaltake Bach VX
RAM: Generic 2GB DDR2 667
OS: Windows XP Professional
HDD's: 120GB EIDE
Use: Primarily for shed use, and at christmas it is used to display the Christmas Light show (CPU usage is low enough to also allow S@H crunching too). This year it will be joined by a second Athlon 2800 to run the show (this PC will run the ledtriks LED lights remotely from the main PC, but probably wont be sunning S@H due to the high CPU usage required by the ledtriks).
