Oh my GOD...

I so remember wanting one of those... Spent 6 months trying to get the parents to get me one for christmas... Ended up with a 'Western Hardware' junk-bike with a banana seat that fell apart within 5 months. You were one of those kids I envied. :)

It was red with a metal flake red banana seat and a pad on the high sissybar.
The frame was 4" longer than most so wheelies were difficult and the extra high ape-hanger handlebars made steering difficult.
I loved it.

I spent almost an entire summer mowing lawns in the neighborhood to earn the $45 price tag.

What did you enjoy when you were young?

Riding my dirt bike. Doing crazy things like climbing the city water tower. Jumping on trains and riding them to the next town. Sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night to hang out with my friends. Just the normal kid stuff back when I was growing up. :)

I really miss practicing martial arts. Did that religiously for twenty years under five different Sensei's and two different styles, Isshin-ryu and Taekwondo. I can't do that now after having surgery two times on my knee.

Might I suggest that you look into Tai Chi?? It's much less impact intense on the body.

re-callin' the moment i got an 'electrical experimenter kit' - think it was 20 Projects . . . originally - mi mum said she & mi father had ordered an erector set kit . . . big mix-up - got the electrical one and the rest became history . . .

still happy after this mishap - and glad that mistakes are made . . . ;)

Back in primary school and the early years of secondary school; pointing out what the teacher had done wrong on the blackboard, setting off homemade explosives on the playing fields, picking the padlocks on the bins behind the kitchen and pushing them into the road, foiling the electric keypads on doors (or just picking the locks) and taking screws out of chairs in classrooms, and tying ropes around phoneboxes when there were people in them.
10 years down the line and not much has changed, it just got bigger and more dangerous. ;-)

Even though I'm still legally a youth... SNIP...

I think 'youth' starts when we are able to capture our first memory.

After that it is a matter of perspective.

Even though I'm still legally a youth, can still look back on the first time I laid eyes on Jupiter and those small pinpricks of light that are its moons in the summer and wondering if I would have any blood left when I did go inside thanks to some friendly mosquitos, to seeing Orion on nights so cold I wondered if I still had blood in liquid form to having a nice cup of coffee with my grandad on days when he retold his life stories and just listning to nature while in the woods, and finding a website I had never heard of by the name of Seti@Home, has anyone here heard of it? Anyway I just thought I'd stop by and listen to some of you're stories and share some of my own......And as someone before said,and I quote, Sigh.......

When I was young, candy bars were bigger, MUCH cheaper, and tasted like heaven...unlike the waxy nasty stuff they sell today. (And even cheap Twinkies tasted pretty good...especially the banana creme ones).

(worked @ Cavex Optical - in NJ - grinding lenses for Naval Intelligence . . . ;)

< worked great too - rememberin' when i first looked through that Barlow - and simply had to take a photograph of the moon . . .
