I've completed 18 work units over the past few days and haven't been given a fraction of a credit!!! The credits don't realy matter, but I would like to be given some indication that the work my system is doing is making some difference!!! These BOINC problems are so frustrating, that I'm tempted to go with other distributed computing systems (like "Computing against Cancer" and other Life Science projects). I would prefer to stick with BOINC, but I'm beginning to lose my patience. I wish someone would give me some assurance that all workunits will be properly credited and that SETI@Home Classic WU's will be fully converted.

To start with the latter, your Seti Classic credits will not be converted or added to your BOINC/Seti credits, because it's a totally different system. When Classic closes down, the credits that are now shown in your Boinc account will be updated to their last state.

As for the first part of your question, you'll have to have patience. There are 2 other computers that need to crunch, send back the data and send back the report on the work unit, before credit is being divided among the 3 of you. The middle amount of credit that's claimed will be granted to all 3 of you. meaning that if you seem to claim 12, another 23 and a third 76, then all three of you will get 23.

With the deadline of units being set to two weeks, you may have to wait two weeks before you see any credit. Just have patience.

No assurances here whatsoever...

The real producers are torn down to share with the non producers.

"You think it's a conspiracy by the networks to put bad shows on TV. But the shows are bad because that's what people want. It's not like Windows users don't have any power. I think they are happy with Windows, and that's an incredibly depressing thought."

Looking at this and at least another two lists

IMHO there is not enought feedback to the cpu donors.

As a sample a "pending for validation" counter provides an immediate notification of every upload without opening a debate on the new credit style.

There is nothing wrong with a little socialism, if the people choose it. Unbridled communism on the other hand is another matter, and just as bad as unbridled capitalism. (TV is a discussion for another day.)

"Non-producers" is a little harsh. Some people are just computer challenged. However, I much prefer the old system of one credit for each WU completed. Yes, little old me only had 1102 WU compared to the 897,087,902,099 to the zillionth power that some corporate computers churned out. But, I took pride in my 1102 WUs and the fact that I had processed more work units than 95.973% of the 5m+ participants AND was #28 out of the 430+ who signed up the day I did. Who came up with this new credit system anyway, and did anybody ask me?

I don't agree with Dave's politics, but I do agree with his one WU, one credit philosophy... Now about the crap on TV...!!!!
