I have resurrected my account briefly so I can thank Tim for a great gesture in renaming Rocky's in memory now of two of our dearly departed friends!

There can be only one cafe at seti@home "Rocky and Dogbyte's Original Cafe" well done Tim.

I would also like to personally thank everyone who contacted me recently with the news about Dennis and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends here at seti and wish them all seasons greetings and our very best wishes for 2008 and beyond!

Nice to see you back FatB, it's just a shame it couldn't be in better circumstances. Dennis's death has been a real blow. I don't think it has quite sunk in that he has really gone. :(

I would support Esme's comments to FatB and Ooonagh on our loss over Dennis (Dogbytes).

OMG! What a shock!!! That's terrible news!!! I'm really shocked. I spoke to Dennis on Skype for an hour, just couple of weeks ago. While he said he was not well, I had no idea he was so close to the end. :[[[

We'll remember him a long time, those of us who knew him.

Cheers Dennis, wherever you may be.

What?!? You mean you spoke with him individually and not as part of a conference? I feel left out.

My heart feels as yours. I have a 10yr. old miniature Daschund named Stretch. He has small hard round bumps under his skin and 3 large ones. He is still happy and active. My sister is taking him to Value Vets in Federal Way WA. next week while I will be in the VAMC for several days. If my buddie has cancer I will choose to put him down after I can say farewell. Its a tough choice, but I don't want him to suffer. I hope you make the right choice. Bless You my friend.

Tim

I know how you feel, as it is 3 weeks since we had to say good bye to Sammie our Shih-Tzu boy. We still miss him and act occasionally as if he is around. However, we still have the benefit of the company of our 5 other wonder dogs.

Sammie suffered for 2 years from a cancerous lump in his rigih hind leg, after it was operated on. But it came back, and, eventually, took 2 years to reach the point we had to make a decision. At heast he was 12 years old.

Sammie was eating normally, getting around the house and drinking at the various water bowls (despite being totally blind). But, it was his last day when things suddenly changed, and he could not keep food or water down. That was when we made the final decision.

You are now in a similar situation, I guess. So, if Indy is eating OK, getting around the house and is not in pain then enjoy his company. If anything changes, and you know he is in pain despite medicines, then you will need to say good bye. It will be the right decision, no matter how hard it is, especially for Indy!

Your friend John

Ratava, I don't envy the choice you have to make. My heart goes out to you. I would look at Indy's quality of life... is the blindness too difficult for Indy? is there pain? how much worse will it get? When their quality of life is low, it's heart breaking to do such a thing to our four legged friends, but ultimately kinder.

For me it's been 10 years since I made that decision for my doggie mate Doza and even though I knew his quality of life was very low at the time, my family and I were devastated.
Happy birthday Calm Chaos!!! Terrible twos?

Dear Friends, Thank you for your thoughts, I think Indy is depressed
He cant see, He is loosing control over his bowels not much but
the other day He stood in the Kitchen and his bladder just unloaded
you could see the embarrassment on his face, he couldn't stop..His Lymph nodes
are 4 times their size and he has trouble breathing especially when he is sleeping
its loud and awful sounding. I know it is upsetting Mirra too. I try not to
show the emotion but the tears just come out of me. Now I am getting grumpy (ier)

Etc...
