Enough kit to build a system but no cpu/mb. Can't decide on what to go for at the moment. Want a quad or 2.

I've been a devout AMD geek since '96, but I'd go with the Q6600...That's my next build, great specs.

Best bang for the buck, that Q6600!!
And overclocks real nice too, if you are into that sort of thing......

I must admit that all my own rigs have been AMD but seriously comtemplating Intel.

My wish list at the moment is a dual socket mobo so that I can build an 8 core.

The only problem with that is that as far as I know, you would have to go with a server grade mobo and cpus, and not too many of them play nicely with OCing...
I think the mobo that who? is ocing with may be an Intel board that has not been released yet.

best cough syrup recipe:
rock candy mixed with Jack Daniels
let the candy melt in the Whiskey.

it will sooth your throat and the whiskey
will make you forget anything else....lol

I bought myself parts for a Phenom system back in early December. Looks like I got a bad motherboard though so I had to RMA it. Replacement is on its way with a scheduled delivery date of January 2 - same day I get back from visiting my brother for Christmas.

To get back on topic... since the last posts where off-topic ...

Yes, Santa dropped 2 quad core XEONS 5365 @ 3 GHz ( that makes it 8 cores), a matching PSU, an INTEL S5000VXN BOARD,4 GB RAM, and some fans...

However it won't waste time on SETI ... ATM running QMC@HOME and ABC@HOME ....
