The portfolio of DDR3 speeds has opened up far sooner than it had for DDR2, as DDR3 data rates of 1066, 1333 and 1600 MHz have all appeared within the past few moths to replace DDR2's 533-, 667-, and 800-MHz data rates. As with DDR2, higher "nonstandard" speeds are also available, but standard speeds are what most buyers need to be familiar with.

I like to use The Tech Report's reviews of CPUs to gage relative effectiveness. It helps that they use a couple of Folding@Home test units to estimate the crunch value of each CPU. The following links will take you to the Folding@Home benchmark page, scroll to the bottom for estimated points per day.

This review includes the 1066MHz FSB Core2Duos, the first Core2 based quad, a number of low to mid range Athlon X2 and a few of the high end Pentium D/EE CPUs.

This review focuses on the short lived AMD FX quad system but also includes a few higher speed Athlon X2s and the Q6600 Core2 quad.

This review includes the Phenom, the soon to be released quad Penryn Core2s, as well as some of the dual and quad 1333MHz FSB Core2s and the current top end X2.

And not to feel left out, this review looks at some of the server oriented Xeon and Opteron cpus.

Since these reviews were over the last 18 months and their test platforms over that time changed, the numbers don't always mesh exactly between articles but are generally within 5%. The fact they focus on quads over dual CPUs is sadly one of the problems with reviews from the big name sites, they focus on the high end sexy CPUs and video cards while ignoring the mainstream.

All Kim was really getting at was the point that you might have put the links in one or two posts instead of using a single post for each by using the edit to add to a previous post. Just makes the thread longer so folks have to scroll a bit more.
