Well what i find odd is that it only happened when i upgraded to Leopard, also i have now turned off the screensaver so that the screen just shuts off after 10 mins or so and now i never see the seti app next to boinc on the dock

Hey all, I just bought a powerbook and started crunching with it. 867 MHZ and just installed Leopard. Sometimes when the screensaver is running and i move the mouse so i can use the computer, the actual seti program is shown sunning in the dock next to BOINC. It dosent happen all the time, it also dosent usually do it after the display goes to sleep, though i have seen it once or twice. Is this normal?

not a mac user myself but this appears totally normal to me, a gnu/linux user
there is a running process that can be seen all the time with
ps -A | grep seti

from the terminal
(that shows you all running processes and then filters them to only show ones with seti in the name)

my linux box gives the following for that command
das69@das69:~$ ps -A | grep seti
20553 ? 00:00:00 setiathome-5.27
20554 ? 00:00:00 setiathome-5.27
20555 ? 00:45:48 setiathome-5.27
20556 ? 00:00:00 setiathome-5.27
das69@das69:~$

(a linux terminal is 90% the same as a mac one... as they are both UNIX based or UNIX clones)

as the dock shows running processes in the mac side of things (rather than the darwin/UNIX side) seeing the process there would be normal (if you could see the dock when the screensaver was active then it would be there allways)
it just shuts the process down when boinc stops crunching so the icon dissapears

I only see 2 actual instances of seti on my machine and that makes since with a C2D.
