I have a brand new Intel Core 2 Quad machine, and I want to install seti on it. Running FC7.

I only installed Seti on P4's. Could anybody help me here, on how I can put seti running on this machine?

It's easy:

1) Download BOINC client: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php
2) chmod +x the downloaded file to make it executeable
3) execute the file, it creates a new dir BOINC and unpackes all the boinc files into it
4) start boinc binary or the boinc run script
5) start boincmgr and add your account in the menue.

Thanks for the tips.

I was successfull putting seti running on 2 of the 4 CPU's on the Intel Core2 Quad arch., after carefully reading the thread " SETI Enhanced binaries for other Platforms".

1 - install boinc_5.8.16_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh

2 - install boinc_5.8.17_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.tgz

3 - run_manager, creating the BOINC dir and other stuffs; kill boinc
The Core 2 Quad is recognized, but reports only 2 available CPU's

4 - intall 2.4_Linux64_kernel_2.6_Intel_SSE3.tar.bz2
(http://lunatics.at/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=116)

5 - nohup run_client &

Is there a way to use the 4 CPU's?

I'm not very acquainted with these new Intel cores. Probably Core 2 Quad, means
2 Cores, with 2 CPU's each?

Does your kernel recognize all 4 cores? If yes take a look into your account setting on this webpage and change

On multiprocessors, use at most X processors

to 4 or more. Then update the project or wait until it connects to the server next time.
