Good Evening

During the closing months of 2006 and early part of 2007. The Users were largely responsible for raising the roughly $206 hundred thousand that has helped to keep Seti Alive.

Shortly we will see the Official start of the 2007-2008 Fund Drive.

It idea is to help everyone know that Funds are need to maintain survival of Seti.

I was aware that some of the scripts that communicate between UCB and Seti had issues. I have let Eric know tht they need to be checked...

Thank You

Pappa

I noticed they altered the home page with signage about donations. It's scripted in red.

So as you do not give all the details about what specifically has changed does the fact that they used Red Letters imply it might be important?

Seti is getting ready to kick off the "Official" 2007 Fund Drive. At this point the only money coming in is from the "Seti Users." "You" have kept Seti Alive for the last year and a half... It is time to consider what you might be able do in the next few weeks/months...

Thank You

Pappa

I just made another donation to Seti@home. While I understand that not everyone can donate, surely more than 0.2% of us can. I challange everyone on this message board to give at least $10 dollars for the cause. These aliens aren't going to find themselves.
Hopefully the cosmos is not trying to reverse the charges.

i just get an E-mail

Dear Sir Ulli,

Thank you for your previous contributions to SETI@home. Because of donors like
you, the SETI@home team has achieved much progress in the past year. We have
successfully started the next phase of SETI@home by distributing data recorded
with the new seven beam data recorder. This data is being analyzed with a new
"Multi-beam" version of SETI@home, which was released in July. With the new
data recorder, we are looking at seven places in the sky simultaneously while
recording fourteen times as much data as before. This means we need more
volunteers like you to help us process this data. So please, tell a friend
about SETI@home.

But there is still far more to be done. Although we are pleased with the
success of last winter's funding drive, and grateful for the generosity of our
donors, we are still operating with minimal funds. These budget constraints
have forced us down to less than 3 full time employees. With more funds we
hope to hire an additional person to maintain the servers and web site. This
would free our existing employees to work on a method of sifting through the
results returned by your computers in order to identify candidates more
rapidly so we can re-observe them. This rapid response validation system would
also give you the ability to see the results your computers have returned in
more detail.

To keep SETI@home operating for the next year, and to provide these new
capabilities, we will need to raise approximately $476,000. Currently
SETI@home is entirely funded by donations from people like you.

We hope that you will consider making an additional donation to SETI@home at
this time. You can make a secure donation by credit card by clicking on the
link at the top of this e-mail. Instructions for donation by check or money
order are there as well. Unless you specify otherwise, your donation will be
noted by a star icon next to your username on the SETI@home pages and your
username will appear on our list of donors. If you do not wish to have this
recognition you may indicate that as well. Please be assured that regardless
of whether or not you choose to have your donation be anonymous, SETI@home
will not share your address with other organizations.

You can check on our fundraising progress by visiting our main site at
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu.

Thank You,

Daniel

I have spent a lot of years, believing that there might be a chance that we can find something. I have seen things go from the idea into something that no one believed that people would donate computer time to start the search.

During the time, I have see many users take time to help other users. We have seen users work to make things better faster and stronger. In some cases some of their parting wishes were that everyone carry on the search without me.

So we have several notable users that are the reason Enhanced, Multibeam exists today.

Every time I turn around I see people becoming involved, each time that happens it improves the odds that we will be able to answer the question. Can Seti find ET?

So from Serendip to Astropulse many things have spawned from the idea.

So I ask a question; sometimes is the journey and adventure along the way as important as the destination?

For Myself, I will continue the Journey even if when I get back if I found the answer was no. Well, Here's to the adventure.

Regards

$106566 has been raised or about 22% of the goal. Some of the items needed with this Donation push are a proper Server for NTPCKR. That will be the start of the true reporting of what everyone has worked for. A portion of the budget is to be able to afford another administrator so that things can move forward. To maintain basic operations costs.

If you have not donated yet please take a moment to consider a Donation. Visa Gift cards that you might have received for Christmas work well.

Thank You
