You can start the login on that account, and get it to send a message to whatever email account it is set for. That will include the authenticator which you can use to log on and change the email address.

But I can't start the login for my Ben Adar account without an email addy or the authemticator.

Hmm. Try sending the other account a private message. This should send you an email, and you can read the email header to see what address it went to (assuming that you can still get email on that email account).

Oops, just checked and you're the founder, oh well
This could still work but would take some time.
Get one of your other team members to initiate a team founders fransfer, that will send an email to your Ben Adar email account and will timeout after 2 months (I think) and that member will then become founder.
That member will then have access to your Ben Adar email address

I just had the same idea, but thanks for all of your help anyway.

As your Ben Adar account is a member of Seti Berlin, the founder of Seti Berlin will have access to your Ben Adar email address.
See if you can contact the Seti Berlin founder and explain whats happened.

Oops, just checked and you're the founder, oh well

Message 670689 - Posted: 1 Nov 2007, 17:07:47 UTC - in response to Message 670264.

BOINC Seti@Home does not allow duplicate accounts with the same email address as the email address is the unique identifier.

If it was a classic account and not a BOINC account as indicated by your join date, you should be able to link the BOINC account that you now have to the Classic account.

But I already changed my classic account to BOINC when it started.
Is there a way to find out what email address is behind my Ben Adar account.
Because I changed the addy a few years ago when I changed to another provider.
Although I am pretty shure that I changed it to the address I use now, there might be the possibility that it was another address.
But I don't know which one, I already tried every addy i can think of.
Seti allways says that there is no account with that email address.
My current address is the only one that worked, but with a wrong account.

Message 670149 - Posted: 31 Oct 2007, 20:55:13 UTC - in response to Message 670121.

Does the length of the ID say something about the age of the account?
Because as you can see this account says I joined in 1999 but has a long ID.

Apr. 3, 1999 is a false date. If I remember correctly, SETI@Home didn't open to the public until Apr. 9, 1999. I don't believe that is your correct start date.

No, correct Date would be December 2, 2001

Can I delete this account somehow? Maybe then i can log on to my old account.

Did you use a different email address on your "Ben Adar"-account? That's because AFAIK Seti doesn't allow two different account with the same email addy.

Do you have a copy of your old installation (from before the virus crash)? If so you could use the authenticator tag in the account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file to log in...

I think it is the same address, it is my oldest Email Account.
I already tried some other Email acccounts I had over the years, but Seti always tells me that there is no account with that email addy.
Unfortunately i have no copy of the old installation.

Did you changed your nick, or did you create a new account in the past?

I changed the nick, it is still the same account I created in 2000 for SETI classic.

Message 670032 - Posted: 31 Oct 2007, 15:21:04 UTC - in response to Message 669800.

Due to an trojan infektion I had to reinstall my OS.
When I had finished I installed BOINC and tried to log on to Seti, but since I haven't logged onto the website for a while, I didn't knew my password or account key anymore. So I requested the account key with my email address. When I logged on to my account I ended up in a new account, without all my progress.
But it seems to be based on my classic account, because the email address is right and it has my old account name.
Has anyone an idea?

The account that you are posting with is not attached to a SETI Classic account.

There are over a hundred accounts with the name Andreas. You can look through the list of users here to see if you can find yours. You can then send yourself an email with the authenticator in it and log in with that.

As I said, i changed the account name a few years ago.
This http://setiathome.berkeley.edu//show_user.php?userid=99832 is my account.
