I saw a whole lot of detail listed with the result when I looked at one. Maybe an error could be found on examining all that writeout.

notice in bold that the BOINC manager is reporting Einstein project to seti.
my guess, it is a programmer trying to improve the reporting mecanism of BOINC.

this really look like a programmer trying to figure out what cause his exception, there is the count up of a variable:

No, that is a developper debugging his code, it is not me, but it has debug functions into it.

I think that it is quite likely a mis-installation of BOINC on a Vista machine. Installing BOINC on Vista involves either overriding a BOINC install default, or overriding a Vista install default. If you just accpet the defaults, BOINC will not behave at all. I would like to point out that his most recent have more reasonable crunch times.
