Please connect to the Internet, or select a default connection using Advanced/Options/Connections" I go to Connections and it is blank. how do I add a connection?? texaspowerwashing.com |

If you have broadband internet (xDSL or Cable), you don't need to create a connection as it should be always on. What type of internet connection do you have? Can you post the information from your Messages tab here so we can see what's going on? |

I am having the exact same problem. The connections tab of Options is completely blank. The error message from the OP is the same. I have a direct connection to the internet. After restarting, here are the messages that occur from simply attempting to start up and attach to a project once. May be just too obvious but have you checked your Firewall settings? F. |

I do not have a firewall running on my machine and I can visit the URL via Firefox, so it cannot be blocked. |

OK. Google is used as a "reference site" as quoted in the last line of your listing, so can you ping that from a command prompt? F. |

After restarting, here are the messages that occur from simply attempting to start up and attach to a project once. In addition to Fred's assistance, can you also check your local options via BOINC Manager -> Advanced -> Options, check HTTP Proxy and SOCKS Proxy. If you are not using a proxy, make sure they are not selected (enabled). Also, check the Connections tab to make sure the right connection is selected. If there is no connections listed and you have broadband access (xDSL or Cable internet), then there is no need for a default connection (and its usually blank). |
