If guns are not OK as a pic in the message, they are definitely not Ok anywhere else, be it avatar, profile pic or sig.

champ had a tank as avatar it was o.K.
KenzieB had Lara Croft wich was also o.K.

AFAIK posts have been removed because of gun pics in them.
If that's the case, avatars with guns in them have to be removed as well, I see no reason why they shoud be treated differently.
But if for example Misfits avatar is OK, gun pics in posts have to be OK as well.

Slowly Sänger.

Lara Croft is known as a comic its free from the age of 6 so kid friendly.
A tank can be used as a private vehicle so not only a weapon.

A picture only shows the meaning of the weapon.
A nuclear explosion only reflefcts dead.

A rose is a rose is a rose.
A gun pic is a gun pic is a gun pic.

There is no difference of the location of the pic, whether as an avatar, in a signature, in a post or in a profile, either it's fit in all places or nowhere.

I don't think I ever posted a gun pic, so I'm not personally affected by any deletion of a post because of that. But I've been told by reliable sources that gun pics have been removed because of being not kid friendly.
If gun pics are not kid friendly (which I think has better arguments for it than nipplegate), avatars with guns have to be removed as well.

If guns in avatars are OK, they are everywhere on this board OK.

No, but why can images of guns be deleted by people with the same guns in their avatars, isn't that pure hypocrisy?

Of course it's not black and white, but it should at least be consistent.

Logic is not the forte.
Preconceived (incorrect) notion: defense rush.
Hence: do same.
Conclude: potshots at the Almighty bounce off Superman.
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

We had a thread with images of hand guns that was deemed inappropriate and removed, yet we have avatars containing similar images that are allowed to remain.

So clarification would be useful..are they inappropriate or not?

If the policy deems they are, then apply consistency across all areas.

Houdi - i DON'T believe that the Term 'Clarification' is TOO difficult for somebody to look up . . . AND i agree ("would be useful") ;)

OK I see the reason for all this now.

Actually this is a very difficult one, and I don't have a real answer to it. A thread with individual messages, specifically drawing attention to, and going into detail about, hand guns, would in my opinion be rightly deemed inappropriate for these boards.

Yet, avatars with similar images, don't seem to have quite the same "impact". But yes I agree that a policy should cover all aspects of posters messages.

As Nevermorestr said earlier, it's all about the context. If an avatar is pretty obviously meant to offend, it should go.

Be sure to include any discussion or pictures of knives as well...the Brits just love to stab each other to death since there aren't too many handguns laying around.

Please be carefull Dennis, eggshells mate!!

We have at the moment a serious increase in gun crimes, particularly in the under 16 age group. Never been known before and very worrying....

...don't you mean the generation that has never been spanked?
