Can anyone say when it will be able to download it or will it just download as part of the WUs, if we get any.

It is downloaded automatically IF you do not have an app_info file. i.e. you are not running optimised application.

If you are running optimised you can either remove/rename app_info file or watch for news on optimised version of 5.27 and then download that manually when it is available.

Right, but when?

When what? Getting the new stock app, or getting the updated Chicken soup?

When do we get MB WUs to crunch?

Using chicken soup optimised so I will have to come out and rename and it should download. At next communication because of no work in about 90 mins time.

A few hundred went out yesterday.

There won't be any more just yet though, as they're busy working on the press release before the data release ;)

Seriously though, the MB splitter seems to be working, but they're working on some background automation before mass MB data is released - a few days...

I am not sure there is any MB work left to download. Per Matt's technical news post........

"Jeff returned today and we all tackled getting the new multibeam client out. So the Windows version has been released, in case you haven't noticed. A Linux version, and a working Mac version (should be recompiled eventually) are also available. This client will chew on classic work until multibeam data becomes available. Speaking of that, Jeff and I are working on the splitter now. We actually fired one up, and a few hundred multibeam workunits went out to the public, but we're still doing work on the automation backend and otherwise, so don't expect a flood of new work just yet. Besides, we really should get the formal press release in order before we dive all the way into the new data. In any event: Woo-hoo!!"

I would think that the 'few hundred' MB WUs that were generated have long since been issued. I would guess that in the next day or two, they will be coming online at full strength.
As far as the new MultiChicken apps, I am sure Simon will be releasing them also in the next day or two, after a few last minute adjustments and recompiles. Just watch the 'optimized apps' sticky at the top of this forum I am sure you will see a message from Simon soon.

The new version has not been donloaded even though I am not using Chicken soup version, looks like I will have to wait until there is work and the new version comes.

I am not sure why this is....it may wait until you get a hit on a new WU, but I am not sure.

I killed boinc, installed the new app optimized for my MMX CPU (PII Deschutes) running SuSE Linux 10.1 and restarted boinc. I lost all work done so far and received the same WU, restarting from zero. But the app seems to be faster and I think I will meet the August 26 deadline.
