Oh Man! That's hilarious!

You should see them squirming under the heat they're getting about it. They're trying this excuse and that excuse, and some of them are even trying to stonewall with the good old "We're not saying, but the price differences are for good and sufficient reasons". But none of it is working. Nobody's buying (pun intended).

The US border cities haven't had a boost like this in years. In Calais, Massachusetts, the border town closest to my little burgh, there are more cars with Canadian plates in the retail mall parking lots than with US plates. LOL

The greedy Canadian retailers haven't dropped their prices yet, though. They're hoping to ride out the storm. I hope they lose tons of money (we're all mad at them, here in Canada).

That's because there are a number of structural aspects of prices in Canada (anywhere) that aren't reflected in the daily currency exchange rate v. the U.S. dollar. The exchange rate is simply the going rate for the money itself, not a reflection of its original relative purchasing power in the home country.

Sorry for my absence. My 97 year-old father had a bad fall. He's been in the hospital and I've been spending a lot of time there. With any luck, they'll be sending him home later today or tomorrow.
