some helicopters of the time Thanks, Misfit. Pics would have been good though....easier to take a look at the ( possible ) similarities between the helicopters and the " objects ". Air Cold, the blade stops; from silent stone, Death is preordained Calm Chaos Forums : Everyone Welcome |

Hmmm....130 to 135 mph..... I'm not sure how many conflicting statements there were from military officials at the time. But I wouldn't be surprised if there were. The particular quote from the official was from an article in The Alexandria Gazette in July 1952. Article: Flying saucers circled the Northern Virginia area again this morning There are more interesting articles about the objects from other newspapers at the bottom of the page. |

Hmmm....130 to 135 mph..... I would be willing to bet that, out there somewhere...there's another " hig ranking military official that will say " Nuh UH...he's WRONG....those were OURS "... Again....that's if the powers that be even decide to really acknowledge the story itself. Air Cold, the blade stops; from silent stone, Death is preordained Calm Chaos Forums : Everyone Welcome |

Hmmm....130 to 135 mph..... That would mean that the military was involved. But according to a high ranking Air Force official, these objects were not under US military control. Hold on, let me find the article that quotes the official again... |

Hmmm....130 to 135 mph..... Meh. What does that have to do with anything?? If there is a decision to even acknowledge the story....we'll get told they were helicopters...lol Air Cold, the blade stops; from silent stone, Death is preordained Calm Chaos Forums : Everyone Welcome |

Hmmm....130 to 135 mph..... Helicopters were fairly primitive in 1952, I'm not sure they could attain those speeds then. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Washington DC, July 1952 The New York Times WASHINGTON, JULY 22, 1952 United States Air Force officials, who have been checking the may recent reports of "flying saucers" submitted to them from various parts of the country, are to-day investigating reports that seven to 10 "unidentified aerial objects" were noted on radar screens here early on Sunday morning. These objects appeared to be over Andrews Air Force base, in Maryland. The Air Force announced last night that the objects had appeared on the radar screen in the air route traffic control centre at the National Airport, first on one section of the screen, and then, soon afterwards, on another section, which showed them moving in a different direction. Their speed was only 100 to 135 miles an hour, which is very slow for "flying saucers." One pilot watched the objects for about 12 minutes as he flew from Washington to Martinsburg, in West Virginia. Another pilot reported that a brilliant light had followed his aircraft from Herndon, in Virginia to within four miles of the National Airport. |
