I've never really taken the Disclosure Project seriously, because I'm rather taken aback by Greer's constant sales pitches/requests for donations - - - I'm thinking specifically from a legal standpoint, he's made some outlandish claims - and mentioned SETI by name. If he's lying, there should be some legal backlash, should there not?

Except that the term, 'SETI', doesn't refer to any one particular project as it is simply a name to describe the effort in general.

I think I read somewhere that China is planning on landing on the dark side of the moon sometime in the near future, and I think one other country as well that I cannot recall.

It's my understanding that they confessed to the whole gag. But just because the BBC or whoever can't make an ape suit to match the Patterson one doesn't prove it's not a hoax. I could be wrong but I've repeatedly heard of their confession.

Perhaps it is covered on Snopes.com somewhere. We'd have to look.

Does it not strike you that continuing to believe this bigfoot video even past the point in time where the ones that created it have confessed it to be a hoax is delusional and an example of the 'true believer syndrome' ? I think one of them said (about that 'thigh bulge) that it was simply a bulky spot within the suit.

I mean, honestly...once the source of evidence has discredited itself you can't continue to maintain the validity of the source itself.

Maybe there is a species of 'Bigfoot' out there. Who knows. But basing a belief on it because of this videotape is absurd don't you think?

The longer answer:
The Patterson footage has never been debunked as a hoax. No one has ever demonstrated how it was done. Neither the original "costume," nor a matching costume, has ever been presented by honest skeptics, nor by various imposters who claim to have worn the costume.

Large amounts of money have been spent trying to make a matching costume. The best Hollywood costume design talents have been brought to the task, but have never succeeded. The British Broadcasting Corporation spent the most money so far. They failed miserably.

Every attempt and failure to make a similar costume strengthens the case for authenticity of the Patterson footage. Comparing a man in a costume side by side with the Patterson creature in motion helps highlight the striking anatomical peculiarities.

If you hear debunking claims in the future, be ready to ask the obvious questions:

Where is the costume?

If the original costume is gone, why can't they make an identical costume and do it again? Why is that so hard?

Why does the news media always trumpet every half-baked "man in the costume" story that comes along without asking for the obvious proof, which should be so simple to provide?
