Guys! I can only make the title so long. I intended "albums" to cover the vinyl, but I'm addidng "vinyl" now. Eight tracks is included in "casettes".

Sheesh! A demanding crowd! LOL

Just trying to be specific. ;)

What about 78s? They aren't vinyl.

Truthfully, I'd have to say Chubby Checker - The Twist.

Go ahead.... laugh.

I'm not gonna laugh. I remember some of the Babes doing "The Twist"...

If you hit "reply to this post" for one of the posts with an image, you can see what you need to type. Also see the "Use BBCode tags to format your text" link to the left of the text input box. Practice in the TESTING FOR SIGNATURES AND BBCODE thread first...

You also need to host the picture yourself online. You can open a free account with one of several firms. Look for example at the url for my image for one possiblity.[/quote]

Thanks Michael,
Won't bother though. Most forums I visit have a drag and drop system. As a blind user, it just isn't worth the hassle. On top of that my speach program eats up the CPU and so slows down my crunching.
Are there any other members on here blind or partially sighted? How do you cope?

My first record (vinyl) was Dynamite (cannot remember the singer) from 1957

Beets - the title should include vinyl LPs, EPs and 78s.

Yeah, it was meant to include all that. :) I'll add "vinyl" to the title.

Could the singer have been Brenda Lee, of "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" fame? That's what Google came up with. ;)

I think you may be right.

It was a very rock oriented record, and may have contributed to her handle ... Little Miss Dynamite.

However, I cannot get Google or the Brenda Lee sites to confirm this ...

Therefore it's all consigned to history and faded memory!
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Interesting question Baz, and one I don't know the answer to.

Anyone else?

Um. Just counting up the number of times I said "see" or "look" in my reply. Sorry!

I've self-certified my web site to the WAI Double-A Accessibility level (using various checking programs) but you are the first person I know who could give me any feedback. I would appreciate any comments, if you have the time.

Nothing wrong with that. I am too old for all this stupid political correctness.

I will come back on this point.
This site is usable only if you have a decent conversion program. A voluntary organisation I work for provided me with Jaws or I wouldn't be able to do a lot online or indeed on the computer. Voice recognition is OK for giving commands but not the best for telling you what it has done.

The first single I bought myself: The Beatles: Yellow Submarine/ Eleanor Rigby (The cover didn't look like that one in the Wiki, it was a replica of the Revolver album)

The first single I got as a present (from my big sister! ;-D ): The Troggs: I Can't Control Myself (I don't remember the b-side, it was a boring song) It was banned from BBC because of the lyrics, and listening to it today, I think I could be happy that my parents didn't understand English back then. :-O

The first cassette tape I bought (my dad spoiled me so I was the first in school who had a cassette tape player) for the money I got for my 15'th birthday: The Beatles: Abbey Road. I actually still have that cassette tape.

And the first vinyl LP I bought, back when I started to date him who became my ex-husband, who had a gramophone, was: Neil Young: Harvest

In fact I have never had a cd-player so I only play cd's on my computer and later on my iPod, so my CD collection is not that big, since I have downloaded more albums than I have bought. But I think my first bought CD was: Carl Orff: Carmina Burana

Found this discography listing of a single by Brenda Lee in '57 titled 'Dynamite'.

And if you click on the song title on this page (a listing for a Brenda Lee boxed set compilation), you can hear a sample.

Bob Geldof gave me a Bananarama cassette and the sound track American Graffitti which i listened to death and still love that music. Although I haven't listened to Bananarama since for some reason. Probably because they are crap.

I also seem to remember buying a Paul Young cassette too.

The first ever was a tape of Vivaldi - the four seasons.
I believe the second was a tape collection of Beethoven's Symphonies 1 to 9.
I believe the third was a tape of Tchaikovsky's 1812.

I was wondering when someone would bring up reel-to-reel tapes. There goes the title again. ;)

I used to have an old wire recorder. Wish I still had it... but I don't think music was it's forte'.

As long as no-one mentions to have bought a vinyl album from the "Golden 20's" as their first achievement, it's okay, isn't it?
