I don't really remember but one of the earliest was, aptly, a best of Beethoven collection. Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

Johnny Horton's Greatest Hits (1961) ![]() Walter Brennan's Old Rivers (1962) Can't find a cover image by itself, but here is a picture. The album cover to this one is in the upper left. ![]() Those were my first two 33 1/3 LPs.. At the same time, I got a boxed set of about 20 45's. Those were a boxed set of 'favorite selections of classical music'. I no longer remember the title. In the fall of 1968, my dad finally broke down and bought a TV (our first, a black & white), actually an 'entertainment center' from Curtis Mathis that included a TV, a radio (AM/FM/FM St., but we didn't live near enough to any FM stations and only got AM on it), and a record player (33 1/3, 45, & 78) all as one piece of furniture. A month or so later, our next-door neighbor to the east died, and I bought these from the estate-sale her son held. He didn't live in the area, and was then about 50. |

I 'll change the answer into: the 1st cassette, the 1st album, the 1st CD, the 1st Video cassette I got or bought :) The first cassette I bought was either City: Am Fenster or Karat: Der Blaue Planet. I'm not sure anymore. One of them I got as a present, the other one I bought by chance the same day. My first album I bought from a worker in the factory where I was during apprenticeship, who was about to sell away all albums and books of his deceased son. It was AC/DC: Highway to Hell. I even had no record player to play it at that time, the album simply stood on my cupboard for two years. My 1st CD was Carmina Burana - I bought it when I bought a new HiFi system with CD player. And, finally, my 1st Video cassette was a set of 2 cassettes á 180min: Woodstock - I bought this only a couple months after I've been in the States the second time '94, 25 years and some months after the concert shown on this video :) Account frozen... |

Sorry looks like it is harder to put a piccy up than I thought it would be If you hit "reply to this post" for one of the posts with an image, you can see what you need to type. Also see the "Use BBCode tags to format your text" link to the left of the text input box. Practice in the TESTING FOR SIGNATURES AND BBCODE thread first... You also need to host the picture yourself online. You can open a free account with one of several firms. Look for example at the url for my image for one possiblity. |

My first record (vinyl) was Dynamite (cannot remember the singer) from 1957 Beets - the title should include vinyl LPs, EPs and 78s. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues ![]() ![]() |

Uriah Heep, Demons and Wizards. Nilsson, Nilsson Schmilsson. Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin. All on vinyl, of course. All of which I still own. Along with about 5000 other assorted pieces of plactic. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

My first record (vinyl) was Dynamite (cannot remember the singer) from 1957 Yeah, it was meant to include all that. :) I'll add "vinyl" to the title. Could the singer have been Brenda Lee, of "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" fame? That's what Google came up with. ;) |

Guys! I can only make the title so long. I intended "albums" to cover the vinyl, but I'm addidng "vinyl" now. Eight tracks is included in "casettes". Sheesh! A demanding crowd! LOL |
