Some comments in the Mr Wizard thread piqued my curiosity, and I (and I’d bet others) would like to know who is the prototypical SETI cruncher.

I would like to conduct a little back-of-the-napkin scale study right here in the Café.

Specifically, I’d like to gather data for a month or so. Age, gender, country and perhaps religious philosophy (or lack thereof).

Just a general snapshot of Who We Are in mid 2007.

For those who may be hesitant about posting personal information in the forum, please use my PM.

What is said in the PM stays in the PM. (Those who don’t know me can check with those who do: I am very strict about PM confidentiality!)

I’ll kick it off: I am female, just turned 29, Canadian, Agnostic/Atheist.

If I get enough responses here or in the PM, I’ll post results (without names, of course) in a month or so.

Why not ask for educational level and, if above high school, area of specialization and whether their work afterwards (if applicable) has used what (s)he studied? :)

I'm a little upset that the writing team decided to kill off the Asgard in the finale of SG-1... Good Norse mythology going on there...as the "Roswell Greys"... The deadpan humor through superiority complex was great... lol

Anyway, so ends my off-topicness...
