Show graphics in BOINC Manager -- no show.

How did you install BOINC? Single user, Shared installation or Service install?

Thanks OzzFan -- I installed as Single User, best I can recall (I would not have installed any other mode by choice).

Since my last report, I still don't have any graphics, but some new things:
- I turned off System Hibernation; no effect.
- I see two projects in my task list, both SETI@home.
- For one of those selected, the Show graphics button was grayed out.
- The other selected did not gray out Show graphics.
- However, after my latest restart, both projects now have Show graphics as grayed out when either is selected.

I think I've resolved my problem. While going over my systems settings I noticed that Let the system go into hybernate was on. I turned this feature off and now everything works as before. I think that if the system goes into a hibernate state it must conflict with the screen saver and the screen saver shuts down. All's well thanks for the help

I installed BIONIC as Single User. I removed it and installed an earlier version yet the same thing continues to happen.

Sounds to me like you may have one of the ATi chips that have a problem with the screen saver, though the graphics button in BOINC manager should work regardless. When you hit the "show graphics" button in BOINC Manager, are you selecting the active workunit that's being crunched? Workunits not being crunched (and thus, not active) will not show their graphics. You must first select the active workunit, then the Show Graphics button will be available.

Also note that there are monthly updates of DirectX 9.0c (that all fall under the version '9.0c'), so if you downloaded an older version of DirectX 9.0c from a few months ago, it won't be the same as the one you would download this month or next month.

I am having a similar problem with the screen saver. When it comes time for the screen saver to come on the following takes place. The screen goes black, I get a message that BOINC is starting up then for a brief moment the screen saver appears then it seems to minimize and disappears. Then I get a message that the screen saver is shutting down. Running XP SP 2, I've installed Direct X 9c yet I still continue to get no screen saver. Is it possibl that one of the security updates that Windows periodically sends is interferring with the screen saver. All the other screen savers appear to work.

I've never seen graphics, ever, for my BOINC installation (5.8.16) of SETI At Home.

I am nontheless seeing work units being processed, so everything else seems fine.

Screensaver -- no show.

Show graphics in BOINC Manager -- no show.

I'm on XP SP2, ATI 9600, up to date drivers & DirectX (as in, just re-installed today).

Pre-BOINC, everything just "worked".

Any suggestions appreciated. I like(d) the graphics. Thanks!
