Same vein: Hydrogen fuel cell, and plugin hybrid.

Do you think a hover-car will ever be in mainstream use... BUT, arent tires more effecient... a hover car would be more likely to crash etc

I know that the Flying car has received a lot of press in the past couple of years.

Imagine rush hour and road rage...in three dimensions.
Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.

I could see the Hover-Car using the same type of propulsion as the Maglev Trains Work

A flying car would obviosuly be better than a hovering car. Ideally a verticle launch vehicle would be best.. something which could lift of vertically, then you could take off from your driveway, roof, back garden etc... not every home has space for a runway.

Muhahaha... I have a quick 5min idea which could put me into earths orbit cheaply LOL LOL!!!
Make a lil tiny ship, about 3metre square, and make it airtight lol. Then take it into the garden. Equip it with hundreds of BBQ gas tins, make some technical mechanism for the tins.. and have a hot air balloon on the top.. (a hot air balloon can take you higher than any jet aeroplace I hear), so when I get to the maximum height the balloon takes me, I can seperate from the balloon and ignite all gas canisters LOL... That actually probably would realisticly get me into orbit, Id probably be dead like, but it would work LOL.

They all explode, and turn you into paste is probably what would happen.

I'm a big fan of the Moller International Skycar. Their model M400b was advertised in the Christmas 2005 Nieman Marcus catalogue for a sale price of $3.6 million dollars. There were no takers. In October 2006, Moller attempted to auction the only prototype of its M400 model on eBay. It failed to sell. The highest bid was $3,000,100 which failed to meet the reserve bid price of $3,500,000.

The company also had a bit of a legal setback in 2003. The Securities and Exchange Commission sued Moller for civil fraud in connection with the sale of unregistered stock, and for making unsubstantiated claims about the performance of the Skycar. Moller settled this lawsuit by agreeing to a permanent injunction and paying $50,000. In the words of the SEC complaint, "As of late 2002, MI's approximately 40 years' of development has resulted in a prototype Skycar capable of hovering about fifteen feet above the ground." So unfortunately funding for the project on the public stock exchange is a no-go.

I really hope they find funding to carry on with the project. It would be wonderful if these ever became affordable.

Here's a pic of the Moller 400b in action:

What's with the lanyards? Does he not trust his own invention? ;)

That's very observant of you!

I was going to disprove your statement with this pic of the demonstration run for shareholders a while back...

But Lookie Lookie! there's a lanyard there too! LOL

I guess that being a prototype worth $3.5 million they'd rather be safe than sorry.
