another one bits the dust

les.

Are you being a bit hasty, these last three you have reported have all been granted credit.

For several days I have thought about the "need" to post any such errors here. Eric's script schould catch them, even if unreported. This was the case for the results les-helen-day reported. You can tell because there is a 3rd result generation for them that was either sent or marked as "didn't need".

The "catch" is that if the results validate with another host, it is possible for a workunit to get assimilated/purged with a Validate Error result in the mix. Does anyone know how often the assimilation / purging happens? If it happens before the script is run, obviously the result with the Validate Error won't get any credit...

The other question why is it still happening, les-helen-day are not using a RRI client, so must assume that is not the cause. All three WU's validated on two results so it is not an accuracy problem.

Think we need more info.

No answer to your question, but, in my particular case, I guesstimate that I have lost far more credits from tripping over pre-flopcounter clients than from validate errors.

Crunch on my friends.

This is a stock Acer Laptop PC running Microsoft Visa Home Premium with BOINC installed in C:\\BOINC\\...

Have tried running BOINC as Administrator and as User with Administrator privileges ... it makes no difference. The ones that do crash do so after only a few seconds or few minutes of crunching... seems Vista does not like it sometimes when SETI moves workunit files in and out of the "slots" sub folder.

The error only happens on SETI.

It passed Memtest with no problems.

Host ID 3867792:

This one had a -6 error: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=631399985

These all "crash & burned" on the same PC

All with the same error message:

This messages show you that you have RAM mistakes.

Have a look to your RAMs and make a memtest.

Do you OC your PC?

You use Rev. 2.4.. this app is not compatible with WinVista!

Have a look at Crunch3rs side and take the Rev. 2.4V

This must eliminate your 'client error' problem..

Had one this morning and it validated in the afternoon. Dr Eric's magic scipt is doing its task, since I see at least one of your results is now valid. I consider these early Chrismas presents from Berkeley.
