Message 671144 - Posted: 2 Nov 2007, 13:08:29 UTC - in response to Message 671139.

I just started receiving these the other day. Never saw one before.

I have a question for those of you getting these: Are any of you overclocking your processors? I just installed a q6600 about a week ago. Not happy with the RAC I was getting out of it, I bumped it to 3GHz. I let it run prime95 overnight to make sure it was stable, and came back with no errors. Started SETI back up, and that is when I started to get the validate errors. Could it be the S@H client is more finicky to OC'ing than, well, everything else I use?

AFAIK it has nothing to do with overclocking.

Validate Errors occur when the validator process on the server cannot find the result after it has been reported.

Some versions of BOINC are more prone to getting them than others e.g. custom versions which report results immediately and earlier varients of the 5.9 and 5.10 series, particularly if CI is set to 0 or a very low value.

OK, just making sure. What an odd coincidence, though, that I've only seen these when I was OC'ing. Maybe I haven't been watching my results enough. I do appreciate the input, though, as that makes me feel a bit safer about the WU's I'm turning in. I feared I was turning in bad data.

Thanks much. :)

Here is my only one

Probably happened when I manually reported the result about 20secs after upload finished. Claimed credit was 74.07.

And another one today.

We have been granted credit in the past when there was a problem with the validator. Not a fast machine but I'm seeing about 25% error rate here. Not good.

To my knowledge, if (you have a bad OC and) the flopcounter have a different result.. your result will be unusable.

..and then 'invalid', or?

Still wondering if it's something I've done. I have 14 of these now, all basically the same message. I've lost close to 1,000Cr to these things. :(

I'm running a single-core Intel box w/5.10.13 and have gotten two of these, one yesterday and another today:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=174026794
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=174194668

In both cases, it looks like another machine has crunched 'em okay. These are the first and only of this sort I've seen -- so far. My (sob) average is dropping!
