This is a stock Acer Laptop PC running Microsoft Visa Home Premium with BOINC installed in C:\\BOINC\\...

Have tried running BOINC as Administrator and as User with Administrator privileges ... it makes no difference. The ones that do crash do so after only a few seconds or few minutes of crunching... seems Vista does not like it sometimes when SETI moves workunit files in and out of the "slots" sub folder.

The error only happens on SETI.

It passed Memtest with no problems.

Host ID 3867792:

I've just had my first "Validate Error" too. :-)

WU #171762189 threw up a validate error on my host.

What is interesting is that both of the other hosts who've returned results so fat are Macs, and their results are showing as "checked but no consensus yet" (which indeed is why the WU was issued to my host).

Be interesting to see what the next cruncher makes of it, he's running WinXP. :-)

And another one for me
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=174351975

I've stopped uploading my results until this is fixed. Don't think I want to try and get past the invalidator.

Hopefully this will be fixed by tomorrow eve.

Any chance of getting credit for these two? A lot of crunch time for no credit :(

Hi Philadelphia.

Here, we all hope that Eric can do something to recover the lost credits...

But, you are overclaiming credits in your results using 2.2B chicken app's with the old multiplier... The right thing (I think) could be that you recover the real credits, not the overclaimed...:)

My Validate errors started on November 1:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=650088221
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=649757907
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=649654286
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=648783590
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=649089900
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=637215625
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=636989879
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=636985717
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=636978469
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=636923867

This equates into a loss of almost 700 claimed credit. Probably a mear pittance when compared to msattler's loss.

So is the problem at our end or at SETI's?

Combined with losses on my Vista computer due to the "Client Error" problem when shutting down is aggravating. I hope it all get corrected soon.

It seems a SETI problem...

Dr. Eric is searching a solution to fix it... (if I understood well... of course)

See at this thread The Validation Shuffle.....

In this thread you can find some ways to reduce the impact meanwhile the problem is solved

Be patient...:)

Thanks for the note Logan. Dr.Erik's script has restored all but these:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=636985717
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=637215625
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=649757907

I'm guessing it's a work in progress and that there are very, very many Validate Errors to be corrected.

Thank you Dr. Erik!

Kevin

I'm aware of 2.2B, it's on a computer of a friend across town, unfortunately I rarely get over there and therefore have been unable to update it. He knows almost nothing about computers so he's unable to update it on his own. On my personal computers I have, both are updated to the newer versions. Whenever I'm over there I'll update it, I just don't know when that will be. As far as recovering credits, I agree that whatever the proper credit should be is the number that should be recovered.

PS - I noticed that the folks at SETI did grant the credits for those two, at the correct rate. Thanks.

Got several more validate errors when I checked today. One from yesterday and four from today.

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=650584728
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=650792434

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=650584728
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=650792434

I think the time that todays were received was prior to the weekly downtime for maintenance.

Does anyone know if this issue was corrected today during maintenance?

Thanks!

Kevin

AFAIK, Validate Errors are always a server problem.

If you look at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/explain_state.php?field=result_outcome they are explained there.

"Validate error The task was reported but could not be validated, typically because the output files were lost on the server."

BTW, AFAIK = as far as I know, BTW = by the way.

I think we need a glossary somewhere to help new users and those whose first language is not English.
