Just a thumbs up Matt. And look at it this way. Downtime like this allows this community to distill out the whiners, and the rest of us to blow the dust out of our power supplies.

As said, we'll be here when you're ready.

(It would be justice to find E.T. about 36 hours after the last troll uploads their last work unit.)

Here's an appropriate Douglas Adams quote:

"New Technology" is the name we give to "stuff that doesn't work yet".

The Inquirer just had an article about FedEx reaching ludicrous speeds during air transport (but the new Sun server hasn't made it to S@H yet) - caution: don't take it too seriously.

So thats why Windows doesn't work.

"Built on Windows NT Technology".
Remember that one? ;) Guess they're from the department of redundancy department.

Now for my favourite Windows version ever: Windows CEMeNT....

Simon.

Why not? The "NT" in Windows NT stands for New Technology - the name we give stuff that doesn't work - as in Windows doesn't work.

Well it's just that Windoze isn't exactly new technology...never really has been.

Even Vista isn't very new technology...well unless you're a PC user...

On Usenet (especially in APIHNA, news://alt.possessive.its.has.no.apostrophe) there’s a term for that particular kind of redundancy, involving initialisms: PNS Syndrome.

Right, but it's not a play on the word "new" as in "newly produced" or "newly manufactured" but a play on the fact that NT stands for New Technology - just a literal play on words and an opportunity to rip on MS.

It's just a joke. It's all in fun.

If Vista is new, does that mean it is "new NT (new technology) technology"?
