Has anyone tried running Bionic with Windows Vista? Please let me know how it runs, before I upgrade my computer. The Hands that grasped them, And the Hearts that fondly clasped them, Cold and dead are lying low. |

Has anyone tried running Bionic with Windows Vista? Please let me know how it runs, before I upgrade my computer. I have one rig running vista. It works well - BUT - you cannot install in c:\\program files\\boinc - you should install in c:\\boinc instead. Also you should probably install as a service. Note that interact with desktop is not going to work very well - the desktop that the service can use is invisible. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

I personally made a C:\\My Programs are where I install things like BOINC, and a few other programs, not to clutter up the root directory. ![]() My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

I never install something on C: since i always make several Partitions on my HD's ,C is only for Windows ,which makes it easier to reinstall if it is f*** up for some reason and i dont loose my data or other programs The key point is to install someplace other than where windows is expecting executables. Vista does NOT like programs to write into the Program Files directory tree (where ever that happens to be). ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

I had been running it in single user mode under Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition since late January with no problems, until last night when I installed the 5.9.5 Windows x64 client. It appears none of the applications that I run support the 64 bit client yet. ![]() |

I had to replace my graphics adapter recently. At the same time I switched from Windows XP to Vista. Experienced big problems with printer, scanner, CD-burning, e-mailing, homebanking, sound card etc., that I did not dare to test Boinc under Vista. I threw it off my computer and went back to XP again. Now everything is running very properly again and Boinc without problems (at least on my side). |

It appears none of the applications that I run support the 64 bit client yet. You should upgrade to 5.10.7. This is supposed to support 32 bit applications under 64 bit BOINC. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |
